SCHEDULE: Full-time

Osceola Regional Medical Center is a Joint Commission accredited 404-bed hospital that builds on a proud tradition of healthcare excellence in Osceola County, Florida. Osceola Regional is conveniently and centrally located in Heart of Kissimmee only minutes from Orlando, St. Cloud, Celebration and Poinciana.  We are committed to continually enhancing the standard of healthcare by providing services to include: Emergency Care, Trauma Care, Pediatric ER, Heart & Vascular Institute, Comprehensive Stroke Center, The Baby Suites maternity care, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit Level II, Women’s Services, Behavioral Health, Orthopedics & Spine and a Graduate Medical Education Program. We also expand our care to the community with our freestanding Emergency Department at Hunter’s Creek ER.

 

Osceola Regional Medical Center is currently seeking a Unit Secretary to join our Surgical Unit.  The position will be Full-time mixed schedule and will have rotating weekend requirements.

Position Description:

  • Clarifies unclear or unfamiliar orders with RN/Charge RN/LPN.  Promptly notifies RN/Charge RN/LPN of stat orders.

  • Ensures physician orders are processed/entered promptly and accurately as per policy under the supervision of the RN/Charge RN/LPN.

  • Works cooperatively with other units in coordinating patient transfers and temporary placement and ensures Charge RN and Admitting is promptly notified of admissions, discharges, transfers, and patient needs.

  • Contributes to a culture of patient centered care by ensuring a quiet healing environment.

  • Communicates and interacts with patients, families, and others in a caring, empathic, courteous, and respectful manner.

  • Within scope of practice, communicates clearly and provides explanation of care in a way that can be easily understood by patients and their families. Ensures patient’s family is informed of patient status as appropriate.

  • Promotes a professional image and acts as an ambassador inside and outside the organization. Takes ownership and demonstrates service excellence principles in all interactions with the patient, physician, and others.  Ensures patient’s safety, dignity and privacy at all times.

  • Promptly responds to patients’ needs and call lights.

  • Optimizes use of supplies, equipment and services, ensuring a high level of clinical care at the lowest cost. Actively seeks ways to control costs without compromising patient safety, quality of care, or the services delivered.

  • Willingly shares knowledge/expertise and assists co-workers. Fosters teamwork and contributes to achievement of team goals.  Acts as a resource for co-workers, as appropriate.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent is required.

  • Medical Terminology is preferable.

  • Experience with Meditech is preferable.

  • Critical thinking, service excellence and good interpersonal communication skills, ability to read/comprehend written instructions, ability to follow verbal instructions, PC skills.
