Program Director for Biomedical Sciences - Miami Shores

Summary Barry University College of Nursing and Health Sciences is seeking a Program Director for the Biomedical Sciences and the Clinical Biology programs for the Fall 2021 semester. The BMS/Clinical Biology Program Director meets the qualifications and assumes the responsibilities of a faculty member, coordinates the curriculum within each program, directs the efforts of the teaching team, and represents the program in the school, university and community. The Director is directly responsible to and evaluated by the Associate Dean or Dean of the College. Essential Functions Assistant Professor In addition to meeting faculty responsibilities, the director: Plans, with the Dean, Associate Deans, and other directors, for the needs of the academic program and the College. Participates in developing and maintaining program policies and procedures that are consistent with the overall mission of University and College and compliant with accreditation standards and other regulatory agencies. Participates in the development and implementation of a strategic plan that includes the accreditation, regulatory, instructional, and budgetary components of the total program. Recruits, interviews, orients, supervises, and evaluates faculty and staff. Oversees evaluation of student performance based on pre-determined educational objectives. Oversees clinical/fieldwork/internship affiliation agreements and other contractual relationships. Performs other duties as assigned by the Dean. The candidate must also be responsive to the mission of Barry University (see Web site: http://www.barry.edu/about/mission/ Qualifications/Requirements Terminal degree in Biological Sciences and/or related field. Ongoing record of scholarly achievement (i.e. presentations, publications, submitting grant proposals). Holds rank of at least Assistant Professor. At least three years of experience in the specialty area. Preparation for teaching through education or at least three years of teaching experience. Demonstrates continued professional development. Holds active membership in professional organizations as appropriate.
