UCFLake Nona Medical Center (UCFLNMC) is located in the southern Orlando suburb ofLake Nona, which is known as Medical City. UCFLNMC is a partnershipfacility owned by HCA Healthcare and the University of Central Florida Collegeof Medicine.  It will be the first teaching hospital in CentralFlorida. Construction began in October 2018. Slated to open in early 2021,the 204,079-square-foot, 64-bed facility is expected to create more than 300jobs when it opens late next year. 

 

UCFLNMC is located immediatelyadjacent to the UCF College of Medicine. It will be just minutes from theOrlando International Airport and will be easily accessible from major roadsincluding Florida’s Turnpike, State Road 417 and the East-West Expressway.

 

JobSummary:

The Director Simulation and Technology is responsible for allsimulation and technology based education within the Division ClinicalEducation Service Line. This includes creating a shared programmatic vision inthe planning, designing, implementing, and evaluating simulation based learningacross the continuum from standardized patients through high-fidelity simulators.This position will be knowledgeable and forward thinking with regard toemerging innovations in the fields of education, healthcare, and technology.

  • Manages variation in clinical practice toimprove efficiency, effectiveness and cost. Ensures a culture of accountabilityand transparency in the provision of care.
  • Stays abreast of internal/external benchmarks,accreditations and designations and actively pursues efforts to achieve.
  • Stays abreast of legal and regulatorystandards and ensures compliance. Develops and implements policies, proceduresand practices in compliance with all legal/regulatory standards
  • Ensures equipment maintenance is performedregularly and according to regulatory and/or accreditation standards.
  • Utilizes evidence-based simulation models todesign, implement, evaluate, and standardize educational programs for staff inthe use of clinical simulation, debriefing and assessment.

Finance:
  • Participates in the annual budget processincluding input into department revenue and expense forecasts, staffing,supply, and equipment needs. Monitors department budget performance, identifiestrends and evaluates variances in relation to established budget. Develops andimplements actions to address performance gaps.
  • Ensures effective labor management, includingposition control, scheduling excellence, productivity management, and premiumpay utilization. Maintains staffing to ensure appropriate patient care.
  • Manages operating expenses including theutilization of supplies and equipment. Identifies cost reduction opportunitiesand implements actions to achieve savings.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
 

Education& Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or Educationrequired
  • Master’s degree preferred
  • 5+ years of experience in an acute carefacility required
  • 2+ years of experience in education withsimulation experience required.
 

License,Certifications & Training:

  • Currently licensed as a registeredprofessional nurse in the state(s) in which he or she practices, in accordancewith law and regulation required
  • AHA Basic Cardiac Life Support required
  • AHA Advanced Cardiac Life Support required
  • Certified Healthcare Simulation Educatorpreferred
