Palo Alto Networks is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Senior NPI Materials Manager to join our exciting, fast growing company.  In this role, the Senior New Product Introduction Materials Manager will work closely with both the HW NPI PM and our contract manufacturer as the single point of contact to ensure continuity of supply for all materials required for scheduled NPI launches and ramps. In addition to the daily activities, this role will continue to focus on ways to scale and optimize the material readiness process. This position reports to the Sr. Manager of Supply Chain Management and is based out of Guadalajara, Mexico.

Your Impact

 

  • Validate the latest supply plan is being communicated to our CM and component suppliers
  • Manage on-time delivery of all materials to support SMT builds
  • Validate that long lead-time POs have been placed, being forecasted and supplier has been set up in the appropriate system
  • Placing risk-buy PO’s to suppliers as place holders to support upcoming requirements
  • BOM scrub to ensure all SMT parts are launched with T&R MPN (partnering with CE, ME and HW)
  • Partner with SBM team to ensure second sourcing is being maximized
  • Ensure that Arena material attributes are set correctly; cost, lead-time, MOQ, etc
  • Manage resolution to any pricing discrepancies between Arena and the CM published pricing
  • Submit and manage NPI build PO’s for NRE, tooling and testing
  • Manage all material shortages from NPI through transition to sustaining 
  • Owns transferring NPI material to sustaining
  • Manage the material in comparison to the actual yields during the NPI/Ramp stage of the products
  • Develop SKU risk summary ahead of Pre-Pilot builds
  • Maintain a risk buy and PPV spreadsheet/tracker
  • Maintain a controlled list of parts - clear ownership documented with CM
  • Partner with the NPI PM to manage all component shortages associated with NPI builds. Duties to include; weekly meetings with CM to discuss shortages, Drive closure of shortages, Be first point of escalation for shortages
  • Review and disposition E&O after each build and close out all NPI E&O before transferring to sustaining
  • Review NPI product BOMs and identify the appropriate flexibility methods for each component (once design is stable), example, implementation of a safety stock program @ the contract manufacture, SMI/VMI programs at the supplier, etc. These flexibility programs will need to be reviewed on a regular basis during the NPI phase and appropriate level of liability approve needs to be obtained prior to implementation. 
  • Lead NPI materials process improvement

Qualifications

Your Experience

  • 5+ years NPI Materials Planning and Supply Chain experience
  • Experience working directly with Suppliers and Contract Manufacturers
  • Experience managing materials for SMT builds
  • Excellent analytical and negotiating skills
  • Ability to successfully work across multiple levels of an organization
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment a must
  • Strong understanding of PLM and BOM management with key tools such as Arena and/or Agile
  • Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills
  • A proven track record of being highly productive
  • The ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish written and oral
