What this job involves

The control systems technician will work within a 24x7 warehouse / logistics environment that provides operations and maintenance services to controls, focusing on equipment troubleshooting and maintenance of material handling equipment such as conveyor belts, sorting systems , scanners, cameras, printing and application systems, scales, HMI systems and control cabinets.

Responsibilities will include

  • Maintain material handling control systems, including PLC / PC controllers and industrial networks such as Ethernet, ControlNet, DeviceNet, Profibus, motor control systems, servo drives, frequency units and electrical distribution systems.
  • Monitor MHE metrics and partner with facilities / operations for system performance issues.
  • Use the FC System Assessment reports to improve the performance of the material handling system through maintenance and repair of identified deficiencies.
  • Utilize FC network support resources to obtain guidance and assistance, and provide peer assistance as needed.
  • Communicate technical problems to the facilities and operations administration.

    Physical demands:

  • Repetitive bending, squatting, kneeling, stretching, turning, sitting, standing, and walking
  • Lifting parts and tools weighing an average of 20 pounds, occasionally weighing up to 80 pounds
  • Dexterity in eye / hand coordination, manual feet (pedals) (grab, pinch, hold, grab) and move the wrist (repetitive flexion / rotation)
  • Working conditions may include small spaces, dust, fumes / odors, hot / cold temperatures, indoor / outdoor noise, vibration, standing on concrete for long hours, and wet or uneven surfaces
  • Basic Qualifications:

  • Associate Degree in Electronic Technology or related field or equivalent experience
  • Electronics or Mechatronics Engineer

  • Language: English 80%
  • Ability to identify, maintain and troubleshoot PLC components and the AB RS LOGIX 5000 PLC
  • Ability to identify and maintain the components of the Robotics system
  • Ability to identify, maintain and troubleshoot HMI components
  • Ability to identify, maintain, and troubleshoot network components
  • Ability to identify, maintain, and troubleshoot motor controls, including motor starters, variable frequency drives, DC drives, and standard electrical components.
  • Industrial electrical hands-on experience and troubleshooting, including 480V three-phase, 110VAC, and 24VDC systems
  • Understand the concepts of warehouse management systems software, including warehouse control systems
  • Reasoning, analytical and problem solving skills
  • Ability to interpret mechanical and electrical drawings
  • Ability to identify, maintain and use SCADA systems and KPI's
  • Ability to train others with minor skills
  • Ability to access all levels and areas of the facility
  • Ability to interpret and understand policies and procedures and relate them to others
  • Preferred Qualifications:

  • Systems control programming knowledge or experience
  • Field Service Engineering Experience
  • Systems builder or training experience
  • Experience supporting a wide range of different conveyors and sorting systems
  • Experience with advanced automation control systems
  • Experience with industrial robotics
  • Experience with ASRS systems
  • Experience in project management
  • Operation Support and Customer Service:

  • Promote and carry out good cleaning practices
  • Must be highly self-motivated and customer focused
  • Flexibility with hours and days of work. (7 days a week, including holidays)
  • Dedicated to supporting production by working safely and customer-centric. Must be highly self-motivated.
