UCF Lake Nona Medical Center (UCFLNMC) is located inthe southern Orlando suburb of Lake Nona, which is known as MedicalCity. UCFLNMC is a partnership facility owned by HCA Healthcare and theUniversity of Central Florida College of Medicine.  It will be the firstteaching hospital in Central Florida. Construction began in October 2018.Slated to open in early 2021, the 204,079-square-foot, 64-bed facility isexpected to create more than 300 jobs when it opens late next year. 

UCFLNMC is located immediately adjacent to the UCF College ofMedicine. It will be just minutes from the Orlando International Airport andwill be easily accessible from major roads including Florida’s Turnpike, StateRoad 417 and the East-West Expressway.

PositionSummary:

Toprofessionally and efficiently answer and connect all calls to the areasrequested.  To assist all business/patient/staff in a professionalmanner while assisting in the daily operations of the communicationsdepartment.

• Pageall personnel as authorized in department procedures.

• Page,verifies and reports all emergency codes.

• Reportsall telephone repair problems to appropriate areas as directed in departmentprocedures.

• Monitorsall alarm indicators and enunciators located in PBX operator room: Medical gasalarm, Oxygen line pressure, Fire alarm panel, UPS malfunctionpanel.  Reports immediately to Engineering department when monitorsgo into alarm.

• MonitorsCODE BLUE indicators and dedicated CODE BLUE phone line atswitchboard.  Responds immediately if alarms activate as authorizedin departmental procedures. 

• MonitorsCODE BLUE system.  Responds immediately if alarm activates asauthorized in departmental procedures.

• Announcesother codes as per department procedure immediately upon notification.

• Maintainsrecords of keys located in department; log keys in/out, reports lost/brokenkeys to Lead Registrar.

• Usestwo-way radio to contact security.

• Usesbeeper for both in-house and off-premises message.

• Recordsinformation into Communication Journal, includes Codes, customer/employercomplaints, equipment problems/repairs, notable accidents, safety issues andconcerns, and any other information that needs to be communicated to othershifts.

• Assistswith and records all long distance calls handled for patients and authorizedpersonnel as authorized.

• Reportssupply and equipment needs to Supervisor.

• Locates interpreters for non-English speakingindividuals as needed, using the translator list.

• Previous Telecom Operator/PBX experience is preferred.
