Description

The primary mission of the Data Analyst role is to help our business evolve into an insights-driven organization. The position sits in our Data and Analytics Center of Excellence, which is responsible for implementing standards across the organization for data, metrics, and analysis, delivering insights gleaned from data to drive business decisions, and monitoring the impact of those decisions to ensure they are driving the impact needed. The Data Analyst will analyze data and provide insights and recommendations to the business to improve internal operations, to understand customers, to provide smarter products and services, to create additional revenue, and to drive decision making.

Primary/Essential Duties and Key Responsibilities: 

  • Develop an understanding of connected core business processes and how performance is measured, and work with business to understand operational and strategic data and analytics needs
  • Transform data into information and reports that business managers can interpret, and monitor KPIs and other business metrics using basic statistics and trend analysis
  • Utilize diagnostic analysis to derive business insights and recommend areas for improvement to business
  • Develop appropriate visualizations, notifications and/or alerts to drive business action, and ensure results of actions can be measured and monitored
  • Promote proper interpretation of data and analytics results and educate on and support self-service business intelligence
  • Query and transform data from multiple data sets, and integrate potentially large volumes of data from a variety of sources
  • Test and validate ETL pipelines
  • Develop and recommend metrics appropriate for assessing business performance
  • Drive data quality by validating data & metrics calculations, surfacing quality issues and documenting metadata

    • Required Qualifications:

  • 3+ years providing business insights using data and analytics
  • Providing and analyzing data that helps the PS organization work more efficiently, and stay compliant.
  • Maintenance - ensuring proper refresh for existing reporting. Fixing bugs, swapping data sources as needed
  • Fulfilling new requests - extracting, modifying and merging data from Salesforce, Smartsheets, UltiPro & UTE

    • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Creative self-starter who is able to analyze, interpret and derive insights, and communicate those to drive change in business
  • Demonstrated ability to create descriptive reports/dashboards and perform trend analysis for operational metrics and business KPIs
  • Working knowledge of intermediate probability and statistics - estimation, linear regression
  • Experience in diagnostic analytics
  • Experience presenting analytical results to leadership
  • Proficiency in SQL and RDBMS
  • Ability and willingness to quickly learn new technologies
  • Experience cleansing and integrating data from disparate data sources
  • Experience working with engineers on testing ETL pipelines
  • Proficiency with Business Intelligence reporting and visualization tools, such as Tableau, PowerBI, and/or Looker
  • Ability to learn business processes quickly and identify inefficiencies through analysis

    •  Education, Certification, License and Training

  • Undergraduate degree in data analytics, mathematics, statistics, engineering, finance or equivalent field, or equivalent experience. Master’s degree is a plus

    • Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Experience with programming languages used in data science, such as Python and R
  • Strong adherence to core software engineering principles (code modularization, versioning, git, testing etc.)
  • Familiarity with Agile development such as Scrum or Kanban
