UCF Lake Nona Medical Center (UCFLNMC) is located inthe southern Orlando suburb of Lake Nona, which is known as MedicalCity. UCFLNMC is a partnership facility owned by HCA Healthcare and theUniversity of Central Florida, College of Medicine.  It will be the firstteaching hospital in Central Florida. Construction began in October 2018.Slated to open in early 2021, the 204,079-square-foot, 64-bed facility isexpected to create more than 300 jobs when it opens early next year. 

UCFLNMC is located immediately adjacent to the UCF College ofMedicine. It will be just minutes from the Orlando International Airport andwill be easily accessible from major roads including Florida’s Turnpike, StateRoad 417 and the East-West Expressway.

PositionDescription

• Anticipatesphysician preferences based upon scheduled surgical procedures contributing toachievement of established OR goals/performance numbers and improving patientoutcomes.

• Assistsin operative procedures by preparing and passing instruments and supplies,holding retractors and cutting sutures.

• Assistsin the maintenance and care of specimens and prepares surgical specimen forlaboratory analysis

• Assistsin the preparation of the operative site in anticipation of the surgicalprocedure.

• Followsuniversal precautions, and follows patient safety standards; and ensures propercleaning, processing, and handling of all surgical instrumentation andscopes.  Applies the principles ofasepsis to ensure the prevention of infection and maintain optimum patientcare.

• Workscollaboratively with surgical team to perform and ensure accurate surgicalcounts.  Demonstrates knowledge ofhospital acquired conditions.

• Contributesto a culture of patient centered care by ensuring a quiet healing environment.

• Communicatesand interacts with patients, families and others in a caring, empathetic,courteous, and respectful manner.

• Communicateseffectively and works with physicians and/or other members of theinterdisciplinary team in meeting patient needs.

Qualifications

Qualifications

• Graduatefrom approved Surgical Tech Program

• 1-3years of experience as a surgical tech is preferred.

• CurrentBLS, or BLS Instructor- through the American Heart Association

• Skills:critical thinking, service excellence and good interpersonal communicationskills, ability to read/comprehend written instructions, ability to followverbal instructions, PC skills.
