SCOPE:

This job consists of working under general supervision while setting up and operating a variety of automatic, semi-automatic and manual machine shop equipment to manufacture precision machined parts. Set-up skill, tooling changes and diversified machine shop skills required.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Responsible for maintenance and operation (if needed) of Automatrix Band manufacturing department. Including band assembly machines, wire forming, lock loop bending and secondary operations.
• Operating various automatic, semi-automatic, CNC machines and manual machines to produce parts to print tolerances.
• Machine set-up of manual and automatic machine skill required.
• Use of measuring devices such as micrometers, height gages, calipers, gauge pins, optical compartors.
• Deburring operations
• Punch press set-up and operation
• Inspection of parts produced
• Inspection of raw materials
• Read and understand blue prints and shop math.
• Work from sketches/verbal instructions to manufacture parts.
• Maintains equipment and machines in good working order.
• Maintain quality records.
• Control proper transfer of materials, inventory of items and labor reporting through required software.
• Follow established safety procedures in the handling of materials and use proper safety equipment to ensure personal safety.
• Provide support on departmental projects
• Provide Feedback on process improvements
• Must be able to work required overtime and weekend shifts
• Must have the ability to work overtime and weekend shifts as assigned

TYPICAL BACKGROUND:

• Education: 
o Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school 
• Certifications/Licensing:
o None
• Years and Type of Experience:
o Minimum of four years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Key Required Skills, Knowledge and Capabilities:
o Proven mechanical aptitude
o Math Skills: to understand complex instructions
o Attention to detail is required
o Previous experience operating CNC Machines 
o Basic computer skills including Microsoft Excel, Word, and loading/running/editing CNC programs 
o Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
o Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations
