In the role of Senior Director/Director Project Management, the individual will lead and support high priority projects related to Government Sales, customers and contracts to include identification of strategic and enterprise needs. The role will report directly to the VP, Government Solutions.

This position works on highly complex projects where analysis of situation requires an in-depth understanding of the business environment across McKesson Medical Surgical and will collaborate with other McKesson business units as needed. This position will interact with senior leaders with Federal, State and Local Government contracts for implementation and integration into our business model. For that reason, it requires a strong strategic mindset, outstanding problem-solving and analytic skills and strong project management skills. This role also designs, implements, and maintains program management structures while evaluating effectiveness modifying the structures as needed.

Regularly interacts with Senior Management and Executive leadership on matters concerning functional areas, divisions, and/or customers. Communicates organizational strategy and translates it into a functional strategy for customer integration that includes implementation and compliance of McKesson process and policies.

The Senior Director/Director Project Management is responsible for:

  • Planning: Determine strategies to move the organization forward, set goals, create and implement action plans, and evaluate the process and results.

  • Solving Problems: Assess problem situations to identify causes, gather and process relevant information, generate possible solutions, and make recommendations and/or resolve the problem.

  • Key Responsibilities:

  • Leads strategic cross-functional projects . Develops project plans, conducts project meetings, facilitates discussions, assigns actions, ownership, identifies decisions and tracks progress to minimize delay(s) in schedules and/or unit operations that could jeopardize overall business activities. Regularly interact with updates to the Executive Leadership Team and Senior Leaders across the organization.

  • Serves as Government Solutions representative (SME) to coordinate cross-functional procedures and work with teams to improve existing processes. Gather business needs from the government solutions team and across the business to translate into requirements. Provide and present business cases to Leaders for prioritization.

  • Lead meeting coordination by gathering and prioritizing topics for Government Solutions team, to include setting agendas, preparing documentation and providing guidance and feedback to Leaders.

  • Minimum Job Qualifications:

  • 4-year degree or equivalent experience

  • 10+ years of professional experience

  • Critical Skills – Required

  • Proven track record of project management skills

  • Experience working in a large, complex matrixed environment

  • Comfortable working in an environment with tight deadlines and significant level of ambiguity.

  • Experience with leading functions through significant enterprise transformation efforts required

  • Ability to absorb and process large quantities of disparate information, synthesize quickly and connect dots across workstreams where appropriate.

  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with business leaders to develop and execute plans, leveraging various teams across the organization

  • Ability to communicate to all levels; excellent verbal and written communication skills - including building out presentations, communicating with cross functional teams, and building out communication plans

  • Ability to speak on behalf of the VP of Government Solutions in key meetings, with back office stakeholders and to make decisions on program items

  • Critical Skills - Preferred

  • Experienced in planning/directing business activities in an organized manner

  • Solid influential skills, across multiple levels (i.e. Executive Leadership and the project team members)

  • Experience in Federal, State and Local Government work or support

  • Experienced with change management

  • Experienced with driving multiple projects and prioritizing across multiple initiatives

  • Advanced Excel capabilities

  • Strong knowledge of process improvement and implementation

  • Strategic thinking and analytical skills

  • Demonstrated ability to synthesize complex facts and insights into concrete, actionable recommendations

  • Ability to track and prioritize multiple concurrent deliverables in a cross-functional team environment

  • Strong project and program management skills

  • Experience navigating matrixed organizations

  • Specialized Knowledge/Skills

  • Previous experience with Federal, State, Local Government and/or Healthcare industry

  • Previous Experience in a Business Consulting or Business Analyst role

  • Microsoft Office, specifically Power Point and Excel

  • Working Conditions:

    Environment (Office, warehouse, etc.)

  • Traditional office environment.

  • Occasional travel (10-20%)
