The InfectionPreventionist is responsible for comprehensive surveillance activities,applying an epidemiological approach to identification of infection preventionissues that include chart review, updating of databases and preparation ofsummary reports and provides clinical support to performance improvementoperations, patient care delivery and Medical Directors. Assists in thedissemination of results/findings and maintains communication patterns withstaff and physicians. Provides a professional consulting role and education andcounseling for patients/families, staff and physicians. This position isintended to help support operational function, efficiency, quality and toimprove patient outcomes. The Infection Preventionist consistently demonstratesbehaviors that model the core values and the Hospital’s mission statement andmaintains proficiency in job and age related competencies.

Serves as a specialist trained inhospital epidemiology.  Functions as a resource consultant and educatorfor patients, physicians, KRMC staff and community.  Directly coordinatesand monitors infection control for the hospital and its outpatient departmentsin accordance with professional and regulatory standards.  Maintains thestandards of nursing care as recommended by the Nursing Department’s philosophyand objectives.
