FIS has established a Corporate Residency program.

  • Participants in the FIS Corporate Residency program will work in the FIS Legal Department from August 31, 2020 through June 30, 2021, reviewing and analyzing legal contract documentation, and identifying and summarizing key provisions for input into FIS’ enterprise electronic database repositories and systems.
  • Participants will also work directly with senior attorneys on legal research projects that include preparation of memoranda and documents, with attorneys providing critiques that assist participants with improving legal research and writing skills.
  • Senior members of the Legal Dept will also offer a series of presentations and insights to Residents on in-house legal functions and topics of interest to in-house attorneys.
  • Full-time positions (40 hrs per week), with preferred optional overtime (10 hrs per wk).
  • Compensation is $25 per hour (overtime @v$37.50 per hour). Residents are eligible for the health and welfare benefits as available to full-time FIS employees.
  • Due to COVID-19, FIS employees in Florida are presently in a ‘work-from-home’ mode. Once in-office work is safely available, Residents will be encouraged to work in the FIS corporate offices in Orlando (limited opportunities also in Jacksonville).

    About the team

    This position is in the FIS Legal Department and is a part of the FIS Corporate Legal Residency program for recent law school graduates. This is a temporary position with a limited duration of approximately 10 months.

    What you will be doing

    • Residents will review and analyze legal contract documentation with commercial clients of the company, principally financial institutions and sophisticated entities in the financial services and payments industries.
    • Residents will identify and summarize key contract provisions in information and technology services contracts, software licenses, and other outsourcing and information services agreements for input into FIS’s enterprise electronic database.
    • Residents will work directly with senior attorneys on legal research projects, including research and analysis on commercial contract and information technology law issues such as data security, privacy and regulatory matters. 
    • The position is full-time (40-50 hours per week), and accommodations will be made for recent graduates studying for the Bar exam during the 4 weeks immediately prior to the Bar exam.
