Position Summary

Perform high quality diagnostic cardiac and vascular ultrasound testing:

  • Cardiac: 2D, M-mode, and spectral doppler echocardiography, exercise and dobutamine stress echocardiography.Strain, 3-D imaging, research protocol experience are a plus.

  • Vascular: Carotid ultrasound, venous/arterial doppler of upper and lower limbs.Venous ablations, venous insufficiency, renal artery doppler, and research protocol experience are a plus.

  • Education/Training

    Graduate of accredited school of sonography or meets American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (ARDMS) eligibility guidelines.

    Licensure/Certification:

  • Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) through the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) and/or

  • Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) through Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) and Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) through the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) and/or

  • Registered Vascular Specialist (RVS) through Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) and;

  • Maintains current BLS/HealthCare Provider certification.

  • Experience

    Formal training certification from an accredited program with a minimum of two (2) years experience.

    Essential Functions

  • Recognizes normal and abnormal cardiac and vascular anatomy and physiology.

  • Functions in a supervisory level in the absence of the Operations Manager when requested.

  • Communicates openly and effectively with all members of the healthcare team.

  • Acquires patient’s clinical history and provide accurate documentation.

  • Positions patient, equipment, and manipulates technical factors to achieve high quality images for interpretation.

  • Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.

  • Exercises professional judgment in performance of services, maintaining a caring demeanor.

  • Delivers appropriate care while recognizing patient conditions and ensuring successful completion of procedures.

  • Complies with all state and federal regulations applicable to sonography.

  • Adheres to policy, procedures, protocols, mission statements and commitment to excellence standards.

  • Assesses the patient’s physical condition and age specific needs.

  • Provides instructions that achieve patient cooperation and desired results.

  • Maintains accurate and precise documentation. Accurately record verbal and telephone cardiology orders from physicians in the patient record.

  • Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.
