Unit Description: Our goal is to assist all of our patients in restoring their liveswith healthy outcomes from their treatment in the timeliest manner possible.  Wound care patients receive a comprehensiveevaluation and condition-specific diagnostic testing. A variety of treatmentoptions, including Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy, are used as indicated to meet thepatient’s needs. The most common types ofwounds seen at the Center are diabetic footulcers, venous stasis ulcers and pressure ulcers.

Facilitate care and education for all patients of the CRMCBurn Clinic.  Facilitate professionaleducation to staff, patients, and families.

• Assessespatients and their families for educational needs relevant to burn care.
• Assessespatients for physiological, psychological, comfort and safety needs.
• Servesas a clinical resource for the nursing staff and health care providers toassist with planning strategy for burn care needs, as well as ongoing education.
• Promotesoptimum independence and return to self-care as applicable to each patient’sindividual circumstances.
• Inaccordance with all applicable regulatory standards; designs, implements andevaluates educational activities related to assessed learning needs orknowledge deficits or patient care professionals in assigned areas.
• Remainscurrent in and applies new clinical modalities, technical competencies, as wellas clinical and research literature related to burn care.
• Maintainsneeded documents and materials in an organized manner such that they may beeasily retrieved.
• Completesassignments and meets deadlines.
• Activelyseeks ways to control costs without compromising patient safety, qualify ofcare or the services delivered.
• Demonstratesknowledge of the occurrence reporting system. Uses system to report potential patient safety issues.
• Followsestablished guidelines for reporting a significant medical error or unanticipatedoutcome in the patient’s care which results in patient harm.
• Attendsin-service presentations and completes all mandatory education requirements.
• UsesPerformance Improvement Plan to improve patient safety.
• Regular,Punctual and dependable attendance.
• Otherduties as assigned.

Qualifications

EDUCATION REQUIRED AND/OR PREFERRED:

·        AssociateDegree, Diploma in Nursing, required

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:

·        Stateof Florida RN License required

·        BLS– AHA Healthcare Provider required

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED ORPREFERRED: 

·         Experiencein acute care preferred

·        Mustpossess the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively meet the needs of the             patient/internal & external customer.
