Position Summary ultra focused – Work together to fearlessly uncover new possibilitiesThe Accounting Manager Latin America will lead the operations of all Accounting and Reporting processes in the region. Under the Latin America Controller guidance, he/she will be responsible for operating existing model ensuring compliance with local and corporate accounting standards and policies and will participate in designing a model that will sustain Ultragenyx growth in the region. Responsibilities including, but not limited to :The Manager Accounting Latin America will be in charge of implementing policies, controls and manage the Accounting and Reporting cycles for the region. The role will also ensure close relation with Corporate Accounting to enforce global policy and reporting on a monthly basis. 1. Policies and Procedures Leading accounting policies and process definition, design and implementation for Latin America Region, including fixed assets, accruals, accounts reconciliations, detailed closing calendar and other aspects of accountingSupport compliance with US GAAP and local Latin America accounting standards and policies, as well as compliance with Sarbanes-OxleyDefining and producing responsibility matrices/ policies and procedures for all accounting processes specifying, local, regional and corporate responsibilities for Latin America countries·Ensuring alignment in the region on all processes with Corporate Accounting 2. Finance operations / Accounting Responsible for participating, overseeing and reviewing the accounting monthly and annual closing process in order to achieve the deadlines set by Corporate Finance (closing checklist, timely accounts reconciliations, accruals, fixed assets, intercompany, reevaluation, suspense accounts, tax accruals, etc)·Responsible for Month end templates review and maintenance (reporting package, cost center report)·Review and validate reconciliations between local BDO systems and Oracle·Prepare in coordination with Local BDO monthly flux reports with variation comments ·Ensure US GAAP to Local GAAP mapping of accounts is appropriate and manage adjustments with Corporate team when necessary·Enforce standardized usage of US GAAP GL accounts in the region·Ensure local BDO teams are compliant with all local filing timeline requirements·Lead relationship with BDO teams for day to day activities and monthly closes 3. Controls and Monitoring ·Implement and monitor BDO teams performance KPIs·Maintain and update vendors GL accounts and Cost center coding tables Ensure Accounts Payable transactions comply and are consistent with global AP policies and proceduresReview and validate US to local Gaap Quarter and Year end reconciliation ·Participate periodically in country, regional and global meetings to review results 4. Accounts Payables Be the Regional responsible on Accounts Payable matters to provide guidance and assistance for policies and procedures through defined training programs to local markets ·AP process by validating vendors creation and coding in Oracle for all markets Ensure with Tax team correct processing of AP transactions 5. Opex management Ensure invoices are correctly booked by BDO teams to appropriate US GL accounts and perform review of cost center reports, actuals and budget to ensure reclassifications are done timely if requiredInternal expenses: Assist in implementation of monitoring and projection tools for payroll and benefits expenses External expenses: Assist in performing Opex review and trend analysis to recommend cost optimization initiatives by market Assist in building monitoring and control tools, KPIs for Opex management 6. Systems ·Participate in Oracle / local BDO process definition and implementation ·Perform Oracle implementation testing activities during implementation, go-live, stabilization and enhancement phases·Perform Concur testing for interface with local BDO systems

Technical Requirements & Skills:

  • Qualifications
  • Experience with regional accounting in Latin America required
  • 5 to 7 years of experience in a combination of public accounting and /or private industry is ideal with at least 3 years’ experience in Public Accounting
  • Strong understanding of US GAAP and local Latin America accounting standards
  • Proficiency in Excel including ability to develop modeling, data manipulation, pivot tables,
  • Excellent problem solving and organizational skills
  • Experience in Oracle
  • Flexibility and ability to adapt to changing conditions
  • Experience working in biotech or pharma industry very desirable
  • Must speak and write fluent Spanish and Portuguese
  • Education
  • BA degree, or MBA is a plus
