Role: Associate Director of Food Safety

Reports to: Head of FSQ

Job Description

The FSQ team is the core of ensuring food safety and high product quality. Producing high quality mealkits and cooking & plating ready-to-eat meals requires excellence in food handling and environmental cleanliness. The Associate Director of Food Safety will set the agenda and vision for the food safety program for all brands and locations, with the goals to ensure customer safety by managing and improving processes, handling all licensing and regulatory requirements, and championing our strong food safety quality culture.

This includes licensing and certifications and communication with regulatory agencies. This Associate Director will be responsible for recall execution and continuous improvement of the recall program. This role oversees site level execution as well as business unit wide strategic direction. This includes monitoring and communication of KPIs, overseeing the project execution for improvement, and determining the direction of processes and procedures related to food safety and quality.

You will ….

  • Collaborate with Food Safety and Quality partners to build upon and strengthen the current food safety strategy to ensure HelloFresh embodies best in class programs and practices.
  • Manage all food safety licenses and certifications required for the business to be in compliance with all local, city, state, and federal requirements.
  • Own communication with regulatory agencies.
  • Act as recall coordinator as designated, and own the maintenance of recall documentation and execution of recall tasks when required.
  • Represent the FSQ team with cross functional departments to ensure FSQ objectives are met, supported, in compliance, and continuously improving.
  • Support sanitation policy development and compliance tracking.
  • Lead a team of Food Safety specialists across multiple functions who are responsible for ensuring food safety compliance.
  • Execute on ad-hoc projects.
  • Own and support OKR development and execution on behalf of the regulatory branch of FSQ
  • Validate and verify the adherence of sites to HACCP plans and ensure compliance with all company FSQA requirements.
  • Be the subject matter expert for regulatory compliance in the event of high-impact food safety and quality issues experienced by the company and industry.
  • Communicate with the executive team as the regulatory compliance expert, as needed.

At a minimum, you have…

  • Bachelor's Degree in Environmental, Food Science, Biology or other relevant subjects
  • 6+ years of experience within the food industry
  • 3+ years of experience in a food safety leadership role within a food facility
  • Organizational oversight with large site or multi-site business
  • Strong attention to detail and data driven mindset
  • Extensive knowledge of principles and applications of FSQ programs including HACCP, Sanitation and applicable certifications
  • Up-to-date knowledge on USDA, FDA, and local guidelines

SUMMARY

The Sanitation Supervisor, reporting to the Quality Manager, leads a team of Sanitation Technicians to ensure the facility and processing equipment meet the highest standards of cleanliness, food safety, and workplace safety. This role requires independent decision-making on day-to-day activities, with manager guidance provided for non-routine matters.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Selects, trains, coaches, and mentors sanitation team members.
  • Organizes and conducts regular performance and goal-setting meetings.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with vendors and suppliers.
  • Enforces Federal, State, and industry Health and Safety regulations.
  • Promotes safety through awareness discussions, training, and by modeling safe behaviors, with strong emphasis on chemical handling, PPE, and exposure risks.
  • Maintains required documentation (e.g., Pest Control, MSS, Chemical Inventory/Usage/Titrations, Audits, Daily Tasks).
  • Ensures compliance with FSQS policies, departmental SOPs, SSOPs, and safety programs.
  • Conducts regular facility inspections to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Performs annual SSOP audits to confirm accuracy and effectiveness.
  • Leads and participates in investigations, root cause analyses (RCA), and continuous improvement (CI) initiatives.
  • Provides leadership during emergencies or natural disasters, ensuring personnel accountability.
  • Ensures adherence to Safe Quality Food (SQF) standards; promptly reports food safety or quality concerns to QA and Production Leadership and develops CAPAs as needed.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of this role.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE)

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of sanitation experience, including at least 1 year directly supervising hourly employees.
  • Knowledge of microbiology, HACCP, SQF, OSHA compliance, food laws, pest control, and sanitation practices in the food industry.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to speak effectively before groups at all levels of the organization.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, technical manuals, and operating procedures in English.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations, including fractions, decimals, and measurements.
  • Preferred - Experience with sanitation budgeting, cost control, or vendor management.
  • Preferred – Bilingual English/Spanish

  • Expert knowledge of cleaning chemicals and safe handling practices.

Physical Demands

Work Environment

Objetivo General:

Responsabilidades clave:

1. Garantizar la llegada a tiempo al centro de distribución, revisar informaciones de productividad, actualización de pizarras y desarrollar rutina diaria de matinal con su equipo.

2. Garantizar el uso de herramientas digitales de su equipo: registro de asistencia a matinal, uso de los 5 porque, pre y post uso de camiones, validación de inventario, Road Map y reporte de ACIS e incidentes.

3. Acompañar el proceso de liberación de los camiones, hacer inspecciones de seguridad, realizar auditorías de 5s según corresponda.

4. Revisión del pre entrega de ruta.

5. Gestionar y evitar diariamente rutas SIF de los equipos de entrega.

6. Velar por el cumplimiento de prácticas de la gestión del desempeño y abordar las oportunidades de manera rápida y apropiada.

7. Garantizar procesos de gestión de gente de su equipo: Digitar novedades de remuneración, cumplimiento de vacaciones, solicitud de vacantes, entrenamientos, etc.

8. Cumplimiento rutina semanal SKAP (actualización de las guías, ejecución entrenamientos, revisión y actualización DTOs semanales.

9. Garantizar cumplimiento agenda digital o rutina semanal. visitas al mercado enfocada en mirar los procesos de seguridad y calidad de entrega, y oportunidades que afecten el nivel de servicio.

10. Optimizar planificación de rutas en el proceso de ruterizacion. Plan de tiempo de ruta debajo de 10 horas, carga de camión debajo de capacidad, cumplimiento de metas indicadores de productividad. (Ocupación, Devolución, Drop Size, Caja por Camión, Recompra, Jornada Líquida, Hora de salida y Ausentismo, etc.)

11. Participar en reuniones de rutina (Diarias: Matinal y logística, Semanal: Seguridad, Roda de flota, gestión DPO, RCOG, RPS. Mensual: Resultados T2, SDG, OBZ, Comité de Gente, Súper Matinal, DPO, etc.).

12. Garantizar la ejecución correcta de los procesos DPO.

  • Prepare and execute audits against the Ferrero Food Safety and Quality Audit requirements.

Compensation Data

The base salary range for this position is $112,993 - $150,658 annually. Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and other job-related factors permitted by law. This range represents the anticipated salary for this position at this time. In addition to base salary, we offer a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement plans, paid time off, and other benefits.

Ocean Spray Cranberries is looking for a Food Safety & Quality Technician to join our Plant team! In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring quality in the plant environment. You will provide quality testing, analysis, and review to ensure production quality. You will also support manufacturing teams in quality system training, record-keeping, and maintenance of FSQA practices. Additionally, you will provide expertise on FSQA subjects and promote programs for the plant.

You will support a team working 4pm to 4am on a rotating 2-2-3 schedule.

A Day in the Life...

  • Responsible for providing quality testing, analysis, and review to ensure that production quality and schedule standards are being achieved.
  • Trains and supports manufacturing personnel in quality systems to maximize product quality. Initiates problem solving activities relating to quality parameter issues.
  • Supports the continuous training, record keeping, and maintenance of the food safety and quality practices within the Plant.
  • Acts as point-of-contact, and through professional judgment in evaluation, suggests resolution to food safety and quality concerns, in the absence of the Quality Manager.
  • Supports and promotes food safety and quality program initiatives within the plant environment.

As a Mine Permitting & Environmental Compliance Associate, you play a crucial role in supporting our mining business unit by aiding in permitting and environmental compliance initiatives. You will collaborate with site personnel and third-party contractors to ensure environmental stewardship at both active and future mine sites. Your contributions will be vital in mine permitting efforts (NEPA), environmental sampling compliance, fieldwork, data validation, and regulatory reporting, ensuring that our operations are sustainable and aligned with environmental standards.

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist in baseline characterization of environmental resources at future mine sites, including surface water, groundwater, air, soil, vegetation, wetlands, and wildlife;
  • Support the development of sustainable mine and reclamation plans that minimize environmental impacts while ensuring safe and efficient operations;
  • Aid in geochemical characterization of lithological units to evaluate potential environmental leachability;
  • Contribute to predictive impact models to assess potential environmental impacts from proposed ore extraction strategies;
  • Assist in obtaining necessary regulatory approvals and permits, including NEPA compliance and permits for wetlands, air, and water quality;
  • Help develop mitigation strategies for wildlife and habitat impacts;
  • Oversee third-party contractors to ensure quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) of environmental fieldwork and sampling;
  • Participate in field inspections related to environmental compliance, including SWPPP and dust management;
  • Support the environmental sampling program by maintaining supplies and equipment;
  • Review and submit regulatory documentation, including discharge monitoring reports and annual MSGP reports to the EPA;
  • Maintain compliance with the Quality Assurance Project Plan (QAPP) to ensure reliable data collection;
  • Ensure contractor adherence to safety and regulatory guidelines on-site;
  • Help coordinate annual Stormwater Training for mining employees and contractors;
  • Be part of the selection of contractors for laboratory analysis and environmental fieldwork;
  • Contribute to the annual sampling budget, ensuring alignment with mine plans and sample forecasting;
  • Ensure compliance of mine office wells with Public Water Systems sampling requirements;
  • Assist in navigating regulatory processes related to NEPA and environmental compliance;
  • Support budget management and forecasting for cost centers and projects.

WHO YOU ARE:

Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or a closely related field;
  • Relevant experience or coursework in permitting (NEPA) and mine environmental compliance;
  • Environmental Sampling Certification or willingness to obtain certification within the first 6 months of employment;
  • Valid Driver’s License with a driving record that meets company guidelines;
  • Ability to lift to 50 lbs.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minimum 1 year of relevant work experience in mine environmental compliance and permitting;
  • Familiarity with ArcGIS systems;
  • Mine Safety and Health Administration certification (or willingness to obtain);
  • Previous experience with regulatory agencies such as BLM, IDEQ, USFS, and EPA;
  • Experience with EQUIS Environmental Database is a plus.

Employees can expect to be paid a salary between $76,753.60 - $115,130.40. Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission (if relevant).
