Capital Regional Medical Center is a fully-accredited healthcare facility with more than 1,400 employees and 380 physicians. We are a 266-bed, acute-care hospital that offers 24/7 Emergency Services in Leon and Gadsden Counties including; a Pediatric ER, and an Express Care ER. Offerings also include a Bariatric Center, Behavioral Health Center, Burn Clinic, Cancer Center, Chest Pain Center w/PCI, Comprehensive Breast Center, Family Center, Heart & Vascular Center, Orthopedic/Spine Center, Physical Therapy Services, Stroke Center, Surgical Services, Network-of-Care Affiliated Physician Practices, and more.

 

Unit Description:  The Labor and Delivery Unit consists of 6 LDR’s, a 3-bedTriage for antenatal testing and overflow, 2 operating rooms, and a 2 bedpost-anesthesia care unit. The Level 1 unit specializes in the care of thepregnant patient >12 weeks gestation. The age range of the clients servedincludes newborns, adolescents, and adults. Primary reasons for admission orobservation include: evaluation and/or treatment of the obstetrical patient forany situation that may compromise the well-being of mother and fetus, as wellas routine delivery and planned or emergent Cesarean Sections. Patients <35weeks gestation will be triaged, stabilized, and transferred to the appropriatefacility as needed. The unit provides services to approximately 1500 patients ayear and operates 24 hours/day 365 days/year. Patients labor, deliver, andrecover in one room and then are transferred to the mother/baby unit whenstable. Patients admitted for planned or emergent Cesarean Sections areadmitted, delivered in one of 2 surgical suites on the unit, recovered in theL&D post-anesthesia care unit, then transferred to the mother/baby unitwhen stable.

 

Position Summary: Provide professional nursing care to patientsutilizing the nursing process. To collaborate with other members of the healthcare delivery team including physicians, to deliver quality health care.

Qualifications

EDUCATIONREQUIRED AND/OR PREFERRED:

·        Associate Degree, Diploma in Nursing,or BSN required

 

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:

·         Florida RN license and/or approved multistate RNlicense required

·        BLS – AHA Healthcare Provider

·        ACLS required

·        NRP – Required within 6 months of hire.

 

EXPERIENCEREQUIRED OR PREFERRED: 

·        Previous L&D experience preferred

 

SKILLS,KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES:

·        AWHONN FHR required within 6 months forexp. RN or 12 months for novice RN

·        Reads and writes Basic English with thebasic skills necessary to transcribe physician’s orders

·        Knowledge of body substance isolation

·        Ability to listen, empathize andrespond to patient, family, internal and external partners needs

·        Basic computer skills
