Controller - Pompano Beach

The position is responsible for assigned general ledger reconciliations and part of month-end closing process including accounting for the NonProfit Organization. This includes working collaboratively across the organization to ensure all grant and restricted funds are properly spent, accounted for, and reported. The position is also responsible for assisting program manager and controller on program’s internal and external budget and incorporates in the financial and budget modules. This role reports to the CAO.

Job Functions:
Daily management and review of the accounting team (4)
MUST Have NON PROFIT EXPERIENCE
• Payroll Processing
• Month end close and all GL maintenance, financial statement creation
• Interprets financial transactions and events for users who must make economic or business decisions
• Records, classifies and summarizes transactions and events in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles

• Compiles financial information, processes journal entries into various accounts and reconciles reports and financial data
• Applies a working knowledge of applicable laws and regulations; verifies documents for completeness and compliance with government and private agencies
• Initiates and processes journal entries into various accounts
• Reconciles sub-ledgers to the general ledger and resolves differences
• Assists in budget preparation
• Assists in preparation of invoices and other funding requirements
• Performs related duties as required

- Outstanding technology, analytics and management experience required

- Commitment and abilities to meet critical business deadlines

- Ability to work well in matrix organization and dealing with ambiguity

- Advanced credentials such as a Masters of Business Administration / MBA or Certified Public Accountant / CPA are preferred

- Attention to detail and demonstrated ability to follow standard procedures is a requirement

- Earlier experience in public accounting is highly valued

- Experience with bank reconciliations

- Wide ranging experience with bank reconciliations

- Non-profit fund accounting experience desired

- Proven knowledge of cash reconciliations

- Practical knowledge of bank reconciliations

- General familiarity with cash reconciliations

- Knowledge of month end closings

- Well-founded grasp of Ledger Reconciliations

- Proficiency in HR Payroll System

- Quality experience with reconciliations

- Full Cycle Payroll experience

- Earlier work involving cash reconciliations

- Extraordinary analytical, quantitative and social skills

- Skilled in the construction and delivery of effective presentations to audiences with wide-ranging backgrounds

- Self-starter and strong ethical standards

- Excellent verbal, written, and social skills

- BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field

- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred within a nonprofit environment
