Job Description:

Primary Responsibilities for the Cloud Architect:

  • Define the overall Cloud Architecture and provide input into design and operational activities based on best practices tailored to USSOUTHCOM needs and infrastructure to maximize the benefits of the cloud environment.

  • Provides expertise in high availability, contingency planning, and automated provisioning.

  • Responsible for cloud management and monitoring.

  • Integrate application, server, network security, and government requirements such as FISMA, FedRAMP, and ATO processes.

  • Participate in the product evaluation and selection process.

  • Provide architecture expertise and assist in development of products and deliverables to further USSOUTHCOM strategy and goals in transition to a Cloud hosting model.

  • Designs solutions for various deployment models (Private, Public, Community and Hybrid) and service models including Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Platform as a service (PaaS), Software as a Service (SaaS) and emerging cloud services to optimize the essential characteristics of cloud computing.

  • Advises on storage and security solutions to securely store data in multi-tenancy environments.

  • Collaborates with enterprise architecture team and other stakeholders to determine enterprise tools, technologies and processes.

  • Provide management of research and evaluation of current market trends, best practices and preferred architectural approach to ensure the solution matches services/agency needs.

  • Assist and support activities to eliminate gaps or inconsistencies in the initial solution, architectural design, deliverables, benefits and messaging.

  • No Shift Work required but may have to provide occasional after-hours support

  • Travel is less than 10%

Experience required

  • 10+ years experience designing and defining system architecture for new or existing computer systems.

  • Expertise in developing, maintaining and contributing to technical and process documentation.

  • Expertise with Microsoft Azure and AWS services.

  • Expertise with O365 management and configuration (Exchange, OneDrive, SharePoint, Office Suite, AzureAD).

  • Expertise in DoD Cloud Computing Security Requirements Guide (CC-SRG) and SCCA Architectures including Cloud Access Point (CAP) architectures.

  • Expertise with Enterprise Architecture Frameworks such as TOGAF / DODAF.

  • Ability to thrive in a highly collaborative, fast-paced, growth-focused environment.

  • Industry recognized cloud engineering/architecture or security certification(s).

  • Expertise in cloud service delivery models

Certifications required:

Education Requirements:

  • BS/BA Degree in Information Technology or related field OR commensurate level of experience based on position level.

Clearance:

  • TS/SCI or Top Secret with SCI eligibility
