UNICEF has worked in Venezuela since 1967, progressively broadening its support after the opening of a UNICEF Office in the country and the signing of the first cooperation agreement between Venezuela and UNICEF in 1991. UNICEF works in partnership with national and sub-national authorities, civil society, academia and the private sector.

Currently, UNICEF is implementing the expansion of the cooperation programme agreed with the Government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela to better contribute to address national priorities and emerging needs faced by the most vulnerable children in the context of the economic crises. This expansion of the programme is being implemented through technical cooperation, capacity building, supply delivery, and communication and advocacy strategies aiming to strengthen national capacity in the areas of Nutrition, Health, WASH, Protection and Education.

How can you make a difference?

Under the supervision of the Representative the incumbent will coordinate ? in full consultation with the Deputy Programs and Deputy Operations ? the implementation of the operations and project/programme activities in the field, to ensure the survival, well-being of children and mothers and communities affected by the humanitarian situation in the country. 

Under the overall guidance of the Representative, and based on the decisions endorsed by the Senior Management Team, the Chief of Field Operations is responsible for the coordination of field-based programmatic activities (humanitarian and recovery); the mobilization of support (programs and operations) needed by field offices to deliver principled results for children, the contribution to resources mobilization initiatives; the routine support to the humanitarian architecture in support of the Representative' framework of accountabilities and coordinate the work of cluster coordinators. Provide leadership to Chief of Field Offices and ensure effective work planning and programme implementation and monitoring of results in the field.
