SHIFT: Nights (rotating weekends)

SCHEDULE: Full-time

NOTE: Position will not start working until January.  Please apply if you are interested in positions at UCF Lake Nona Medical Center slated to open in early 2021.

 

UCF Lake Nona Medical Center (UCFLNMC) is located in the southern Orlando suburb of Lake Nona, which is known as Medical City. UCFLNMC is a partnership facility owned by HCA Healthcare and the University of Central Florida College of Medicine.  It will be the first teaching hospital in Central Florida.  Construction began in October 2018. Slated to open in early 2021, the 204,079-square-foot, 64-bed facility is expected to create more than 300 jobs when it opens early next year. 

  

UCFLNMC will be located immediately adjacent to the UCF College of Medicine. It will be just minutes from the Orlando International Airport and will be easily accessible from major roads including Florida’s Turnpike, State Road 417 and the East-West Expressway.

Cardiology, Oncology, Endocrinology, Gastroenterology, Neurology, Critical Care/Pulmonary, Infectious Disease, Rheumatology, Orthopedic Surgery and Urology

 
 

We are seeking a Certified OR Surgical Tech to join our Labor & Delivery team.  This position will be Full time on the Night shift and will have rotating weekend requirements.

 

Position Description

  • Anticipates physician preferences based upon scheduled surgical procedures contributing to achievement of established OR goals/performance numbers and improving patient outcomes.

  • Assists in operative procedures by preparing and passing instruments and supplies, holding retractors and cutting sutures.

  • Assists in the maintenance and care of specimens and prepares surgical specimen for laboratory analysis

  • Assists in the preparation of the operative site in anticipation of the surgical procedure.

  • Follows universal precautions, and follows patient safety standards; and ensures proper cleaning, processing, and handling of all surgical instrumentation and scopes.  Applies the principles of asepsis to ensure the prevention of infection and maintain optimum patient care.

  • Works collaboratively with surgical team to perform and ensure accurate surgical counts.  Demonstrates knowledge of hospital acquired conditions.

  • Contributes to a culture of patient centered care by ensuring a quiet healing environment.

  • Communicates and interacts with patients, families and others in a caring, empathetic, courteous, and respectful manner.

  • Communicates effectively and works with physicians and/or other members of the interdisciplinary team in meeting patient needs.

Qualifications

Qualifications
  • Graduatefrom approved Surgical Tech Program

  • 1-3years of experience as a surgical tech is preferred.

  • CurrentBLS, or BLS Instructor- through the American Heart Association

  • CST(Certified Surgical Technologist) from a Commission on Accreditation of AlliedHealth Education Program (CAAHEP);  orCST (Certified Surgical Technologist) from National Commission for CertifyingAgencies (NCCA) accredited organization; or TS-C (Tech in Surgery -Certified)from the National Center for competency Testing (NCCT).  Individuals hired into this position on orprior to 9/1/2010 are grandfathered into previous requirements.

  • Skills:critical thinking, service excellence and good interpersonal communication skills,ability to read/comprehend written instructions, ability to follow verbalinstructions, PC skills.
