[SPRING 2025] EDUCATION - SPANISH INITIATIVES

The Whitney’s Academic Year Internship program offers a semester-long paid internship for undergraduate and graduate students currently enrolled in an accredited academic program. The internship is hybrid, with some onsite work. For Spring 2025, interns commit between 16–21 hours per week over 10–12 weeks for a total of 200 hours. The official program dates will span from February 3, 2025 through April 18, 2025. Interns are assigned to a specific department at the Museum for the duration of the internship.

The Whitney seeks an Education: Spanish Initiatives intern for the Spring 2025 semester.

Expected Projects & Assignments

  • Work independently in research projects regarding Spanish resources, be able to work remotely and in person
  • Support and help in Spanish projects related to English-to-Spanish translation texts and editing, program descriptions, and more
  • Preferred but not limited of a native Spanish speaker, or with strong reading and writing skills in Spanish
  • Help and support the Associate Manager with Administrative and general duties, keeping track of expenses, receipts, and budgets

Skills & Qualifications

  • Undergraduates and graduates currently enrolled in accredited academic year programs are eligible
  • Applicants must have completed a minimum of one year’s worth of academic coursework; undergraduate freshmen are not eligible
  • While a demonstrated interest in art and art history is preferred, students in all majors are encouraged to apply
  • Previous museum experience is not required

Compensation

Interns will be paid a stipend of $3000.

Requisitos:
• Ser oficial en situación de retiro de la Marina de Guerra del Perú o profesor de la carrera de educación (otorgado por una institución de formación docente acreditada en el país o exterior, en este último caso el titulo debe ser revalidado en el Perú)
• Contar con el grado acad
émico de Maestro o Doctor.
• Contar con experiencia docente en el sistema educativo nacional (publico o privado) y/o sistema educativo del sector defensa.
• Conocimiento del programa de bachillerato internacional.

Funciones:
• Planear, organizar, dirigir y controlar las actividades del liceo naval para el cumplimiento de su misión.
• Formular la política educacional y planes de educación del liceo naval en concordancia con lo establecido por el ministerio de educación y el departamento de educación de la dirección de bienestar.
• Dirigir la elaboración, ejecución y evaluación de los documentos básicos de gestión educativa como: proyecto educativo, plan anual de trabajo, plan de supervisión, plan operativo de psicología, proyecto curricular del liceo naval, entre otros.
• Organizar y dirigir el servicio de supervisión educativa del liceo naval, con la finalidad de verificar el desarrollo de los programas curriculares de los niveles.
• Controlar el cumplimiento de los objetivos educacionales, planes y programas, así como el uso racionalizado del material del liceo naval.
• Disponer la organización y ejecución del proceso de matrícula, así como autorizar y firmar la expedición de documentos pedagógicos oficiales de los alumnos.
• Autorizar traslados, exoneraciones de asignaturas y rectificación de nombres y apellidos de los alumnos en los documentos pedagógicos de acuerdo a las normas específicas.
• Convocar y presidir el consejo directivo del liceo naval, así como las reuniones técnico-pedagógicas programadas para la buena marcha institucional.
• Proponer a la dirección de bienestar la cobertura de las plazas docentes, o administrativas vacantes y los movimientos internos del personal del liceo naval.
• Dirigir el proceso de calificación de notas y conceptos del personal directivo, docente y administrativo del liceo naval.
• Aprobar los requerimientos de materiales del liceo naval, asegurándose que se encuentren dentro de la asignación efectuada al liceo naval.
• Promover la actualización y perfeccionamiento del personal docente de acuerdo a las normas establecidas por la dirección de bienestar.
• Coordinar con la asociación de padres de familia y de egresados para la realización de actividades en beneficio del liceo naval.
• Verificar que los órganos del liceo naval cuenten con los recursos humanos, materiales y financieros necesarios.
• Recomendar la baja del material deteriorado, informando al departamento de educación de la dirección de bienestar de acuerdo a las disposiciones vigentes.
• Verificar que las actividades de administración de personal del liceo naval, se efectúen de acuerdo a las normas y disposiciones emitidas por la dirección de administración de personas.
• Otras funciones que le asigne el jefe del departamento de educación de la dirección de bienestar, relacionadas con la naturaleza del cargo.
