Position Summary:

Florida Atlantic University's Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute is seeking a Water Quality Technician, Fort Pierce, Florida.

The Water Quality Technician will prepare, deploy, maintain, clean and troubleshoot continuously operating water quality instrumentation in bio-fouling marine environment. Will also participate and adhere to the IRLO SAP and IRLO SOPs to ensure that all requirements are met and that documentation related to the work are accurately completed and reported.

Summary of Responsibilities:

  • Perform preventative maintenance and sensor verification on water quality instrumentation, both in the field and laboratory.
  • Assist with validation and verification of data before reporting to the IRLON Project Manager.
  • Assist with maintaining a stocked and inventoried supply of parts, equipment and instrumentation for LOBO deployments, operations and maintenance/repairs.
  • Participate in in-house audits to identify potential problems and abide by corrective action as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

Master's degree from an accredited institution in Marine Science, Engineering or related technical field; or a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Marine Science, Engineering or related technical field and one year of related experience required.

Must be able to communicate effectively with all levels of employees and managers from varying disciplines.

Must have a valid Florida Driver's license.

Experience with advanced water quality instrumentation and telemetry preferred.

Basic computer knowledge including Microsoft Office, DOS, Terminal Emulator and sensor host software applications preferred.

Experience with troubleshooting technical equipment, as well as experience trailering, driving and working from boats preferred.

The ability to work in the field in various types of weather preferred.

The ability to lift heavy equipment (50 lbs.) preferred.

Salary:

$15.80 - $16.76 per hour
