- The Unit Clerk will organize and facilitate the admission and dischargeprocess on the Unit by correctly relaying information and transcribing ordersin compliance with hospital and nursing services policies and procedures.
- Receives and provides status report from off-going/ on-coming unit clerk.
- Prepares chart, addressograph plate and kardex on each patient admitted to the nursing unit.
- Transcribes Physician's Orders under the supervision of a registered nurse in the following manner.
- Pulls copies of orders and gives copies to Pharmacy and RN assigned to patient.
- Assist physicians in obtaining charts and diagnostic
- Assembles the medical record for patient transfers and assembles medical record to forward to Medical Records when a patient is discharged.
- Orders department supplies on scheduled day. Does not over stock.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or the equivalent.
- 1-3 years experience
- Basic computer/keyboard skills preferred. Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
