Student Employment

Hourly Wage: $9.00-$10.50

Duties: School of Music Assistants will have a wide variety of responsibilities, including but not limited to: 1) Performing office duties such as answering phones, filing, taking messages and directing visitors, etc., 2) Aiding students by answering questions, checking instruments, equipment and lockers and taking information for building access, 3) Assisting performers with their various recital needs, such as recording, lighting and ushering, 4) Monitoring of the MUS building for issues concerning room inventory, organization and functionality. Hours and duties may vary due to policies set forth by the University during the COVID-19 Pandemic. 

Average Number of Hours per Week: 15-18 hours per week.

Schedule: SOM assistants should be able to work shifts during the regular 8-5 business hours and for 4 hour blocks on evenings and weekends.

Minimum Qualifications: Comfort and willingness to learn about video and audio equipment, and other skills necessary to run recitals and performances in a professional manner. Strong communication skills, customer service experience, ability to follow directions and complete tasks independently and thoroughly.

Preferred Qualifications: flexible evening and weekend hours, ability to lift and move music equipment and instruments, knowledge of Mac and Microsoft Office.
