Student Employment

Hourly Wage: $10/hr

Duties: 

The student assistant will have daily contact with, and provide administrative support for, department faculty, staff, students and visitors. The person in this position must be approachable, customer-focused, organized, and a self-starter. The assistant greets all visitors to the Department of Computer Science and Engineering front office and directs them to appropriate personnel and resources.

Duties include answering the phone, checking messages and responding accordingly; assisting with scanning, photo copying, shredding, filing, and preparing packets/pamphlet and stocking paper. The student will also handle daily mail pickup and distribution, maintain department office hours lists, and post announcements. Other duties as assigned.

What we are looking for: Student must be dependable and outgoing; excellent written and oral communication skills required. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and basic proficiency with Adobe Acrobat.

Average Number of Hours per Week:

10 to 20 hours per week based on students' availability for Fall and Spring semester.

Schedule: 

Flexible in working around class schedule; Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. 

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicant must have a current Federal Work Study (FWS) award for the current academic year in order to apply for this position. Applicants are asked to demonstrate proof of their FWS award by saving their “Award Overview” screen from OASIS as a print screen and then pasting it into a Word document and upload it as part of any additional required application materials. If other documents (in addition to your FWS award) are required as part of your application, you must upload ALL documents as one document.
