ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

PRODUCT ENGINEERING:

  • Conduct hands-on failure analysis and forensics on solar module field returns utilizing destructive and nondestructive testing and analytical techniques.

  • Perform experiments to re-create failures observed in the field, both in outdoor tests and in lab accelerated tests.

  • Provide clear and comprehensive failure analysis reports and present to internal teams responsible for design, manufacturing, quality, installation, and maintenance. Develop materials supporting customer communications.

  • Troubleshoot system and module performance issues pre- & post- commissioning, during system operation.

  • Set up outdoor test hardware, data acquisition and instrumentation for new installations or test sites.

  • Recommend customer issue resolution pathways by working with the Technical Support engineers and Operations & Maintenance technicians.

  • Provide design teams with recommendations for current and future generation product improvements based on field data analysis.

  • AFTERSALES:

  • Interface with customers/partners on escalated technical issues/queries

  • Troubleshoot, Investigate and effectively & efficiently engineer solutions to solve customer problems

  • Reduce warranty liability costs by engineering & deploying the best cost solutions

  • Identify & drive efficiencies in aftersales management processes

  • Improve Customer/Partner health metrics related to technical cases through closed loop learning & case management

  • Produce standardized processes and procedures for global TSE application

  • Engineer & deploy technical solutions for new or complex issues

  • Benchmark, evaluate & improve case management techniques

  • Provide technical contract support

  • Preparing and reporting on aftersales metrics to management

  • JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • BS degree in materials science, electrical engineering, energy technologies, or related field.

  • 2+ years experience in an engineering role (solar industry preferred) or MS degree.

  • Hands-on experience with failure analysis and materials characterization techniques (electrical testing and characterization, thermal imaging, root cause analysis).

  • Proven field experience and/ or electrical characterization/ troubleshooting/ analytical skills.

  • Ability to think creatively learn and develop innovative solutions to electro/mechanical challenges involved with photovoltaic installations.

  • Familiar with data acquisition systems and data analysis.

  • Self-motivated, with ability to work both independently and with multiple teams.

  • Strong communication skills – both written and verbal.

  • Strong customer-focused attitude.

  • Experience in PV industry is desirable.

  • OTHER:

  • Must be able to climb stairs and ladders to access rooftop solar sites.

  • Must be able to lift 40-lb solar panel.

  • Up to 30% domestic and some international travel to company and customer sites.

  • Limited relocation assistance will be provided for the right candidate.

  • Family Description:

    Implements and maintains quality assurance/ quality control protocols and methods for processing materials into partially finished or finished products. Responsible for planning, implementing and managing compliance of manufacturing and production processes with internal and external safety, quality and regulatory standards requirements for worldwide distribution. Designs methods and procedures for inspecting, testing and evaluating the precision and accuracy of production processes, production equipment and finished products. Performs analysis of reports and production data to identify trends and recommend updates or changes to quality standards and procedures when necessary. May assure compliance to in-house and/or external specifications and standards (i.e. GLP, GMP, ISO, Six Sigma).

  • Minimum Education and Experience:

  • B.S. degree in Engineering and 2+ years of related experience or M.S. Degree and 0+ years of related experience
