Multiple Faculty Positions in the School of Integrated Science and Humanity

at Florida International University

The , one of three interdisciplinary schools in the College of Arts, Sciences & Education (CASE) at Florida International University (FIU), is looking for exceptional faculty to foster continued growth of its programs in children’s mental health, cognitive neuroscience & science imaging and the biomolecular sciences. By bridging the natural and social sciences, and the humanities, SISH faculty and students are addressing the most complex challenges of the 21st century with groundbreaking research, inspirational teaching, and community engagement. Our faculty are conducting research and teaching students in SISH departments, centers and institutes, engaging interdisciplinary researchers and scholars from colleges across the university (e.g., medicine, engineering, public health), as well as institutional partners locally and globally.

Tenure-track and tenured faculty positions are currently associated with our centers and institutes in three broad areas where FIU is fast becoming a global leader.

The Center for Children and Families (CCF), one of FIU’s preeminent centers, is a team of more than 40 of the nation’s best researchers and clinical experts advancing the way we treat child and adolescent mental health disorders. The center provides evidence-based clinical services for families, including early childhood services, individualized and group programs for parents, group and home-based therapy for children, nationally-acclaimed summer camp programs, and video teleconferencing therapy.

The Biomolecular Sciences Institute (BSI), founded in 2014 to promote and facilitate multidisciplinary research in the biomolecular and biomedical sciences, currently has collaborations that include genomic stability and stress response, discovery and development of novel biosensors for detecting predictive biomarkers relevant for personal wellness and the discovery of new drugs, medicines and interventions for treatment or prevention of diseases, with a focus on the study of infectious diseases (including mosquito-borne illnesses), cancer and neurological disorders. The BSI includes FIU’s emerging preeminent Translationl Molecular Discoveries program.

The Center for Imaging Science (CIS) at FIU is a multidisciplinary research center designed to support an integrated community of investigators at the forefront of imaging science, with an emphasis on functional neuroimaging research in a research-dedicated magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) facility.

FIU is seeking candidates willing to join one of the aforementioned SISH centers or institutes and hold primary positions in a department under the College of Arts, Sciences & Education. Each individual will work collaboratively with faculty in the appropriate center or institute as well as their department to carry out transformative educational research and teaching in their discipline.

Successful candidates will be expected to have and maintain a strong research program (external funding, peer-reviewed scholarly work, national/international collaborations, mentoring of undergraduate/graduate researchers), teach/adapt/develop transformative courses in their discipline, and provide service to their department/college in order to contribute to the college’s mission in these domains.
