Position Summary The accounting roles within the General Accounting Team (Record to Report) in Tampa will provide support to US based business units as well as some global functions. The Record to Report team partners with Accenture as an outsourced service provider for most general accounting activities – accordingly many aspects of the role will require interaction with and review and management of work performed offshore by Accenture. The successful applicant must possess an extremely high attention to detail and be able to work collaboratively with key internal and external customers. They will need to demonstrate flexibility, be open-minded and adaptable to changing business needs and requests. The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated ability to analyze and interpret complex financial information, be an effective decision maker and planner and be able to offer and deliver superior business solutions. The candidate must have the ability to manage multiple tasks, be well organized, and have a proven track record of meeting or exceeding deadlines. Strong project management and leadership skills are very desirable. Strong oral, written and interpersonal communication skills are vital. The successful candidate must be a self-starter, highly motivated and work with minimal supervision. Direct Reports Indirect Reports Business Partners No direct or indirect reports High level of interaction with Accenture Service Delivery Teams Position Responsibilities Main responsibilities will include: Perform general accounting activities related to managing the month/quarter end close process, preparing and approving journal entries, account reconciliations and analysis, and supporting team members during the close when needed Perform ad-hoc analysis, acting as general Accounting subject matter expert for the various business units or corporate functions that we support, such as FP&A, Corporate Tax, Consolidated financial Reporting, Internal controls, and People Services Support the coordination and monitoring of the tasks and quality of work performed by the Accenture Delivery Centers, our GFS outsourced provider supporting general accounting operations Communication of known issues to business partners and work with the business, Accenture and the IT teams to identify & implement the optimal solution Perform monthly quality reviews for North America balance sheet account reconciliations to ensure key controls supporting balance sheet processes are operating effectively and reconciliations are of a high quality Complete Quarterly Balance Sheet Flux and Account Analysis to ensure appropriate reported balances and to provide support for quarterly earnings releases and 10Q filings Identify, test and implement ongoing process improvements Desired Experience Required: Bachelor’s degree in accounting Qualified Accountant preferredCertified Public Accountant preferred; MBA a plus Minimum 5 years diversified experience in accounting or finance Public accounting with a big four firm or internal audit with a large corporation a plus Ideal Candidates Would Also Have: Knowledge of SAP and Hyperion Understanding of controls with knowledge of SOX Knowledge of US GAAP One shared journey is moving us forward at Bristol-Myers Squibb.
