Research Manager - Donor Prospecting (Volunteer to Compensation) 

*Note: The following is an opportunity for flexible, part-time work, at least initially on a volunteer basis. Please DO NOT APPLY if you are only looking for paid employment.* This is a remote-from-home position.* Rock-solid minimum 6 months commitment required.

Are you able to commit a minimum of 10-15 hours a week, working remotely, on your own schedule, with colleagues around the world? 

WhoWhatWhy is building a donor prospect research team and needs an experienced individual to oversee it. If you'™re selected, you will supervise others, direct and shape their work, and help them be successful. 

We are looking for a strong manager and leader who is extremely organized and driven. An ideal candidate wouldhave a track record of building and managing a team of researchers working to identify high-value donor prospects.Prior experience in media/news nonprofit fundraising work, or at least significant nonprofit donor research and cultivation management experience, are helpful. We will also consider others with strong management and research skills who can make a case for themselves.

Responsibilities

  • Build and supervise a donor prospect research team
  • Evaluate results and, utilizing continuous learning, improve the team's effectiveness 
  • Ensure that the team produces a steady stream of quality leads
  • Qualifications 

  • Prior experience working with or managing teams of donor researchers
  • Or, prior experience both doing donor research and managing people in any relevant capacity
  • Be highly motivated and organized. Work without prodding or close supervision
  • Have strong people skills and be able to provide leadership and inspiration

    You will work remotely and on your own schedule; we ask for a minimum commitment of 10-15 hours a week, though doing more is not discouraged! Because our staff is spread around the world in many time zones, we rely on asynchronous communication. Nonetheless, team members are asked to respond to requests and inquiries within hours.
