Job Summary

The Orthopedic-Medical/Surgical unitconsists of 47 beds located on the 7th floor at North Florida Regional MedicalCenter. We are proud to serve a diverse patient population consisting of 60%Orthopedic and 40% Medical/Surgical patients. Our specialty focus includespatients undergoing total joint replacement surgery, fractures and fracturerepairs, osteomyelitis and minor trauma. We collaborate with nationallyrecognized orthopedic surgeons specializing in hip, knee, ankle and shouldersurgeries to assist patients achieve their maximum mobility and independence. Themedical / surgical patients we care for have a wide variety of medical/surgicaldiagnoses ranging from minor to complex including, but not limited to: cardiac,respiratory, gastroenterology, renal disease, neuro, endocrine, behavioralhealth, infectious disease and the general surgery patient.  Our multidisciplinary care team workstogether to coordinate individualized care and optimize patient outcomesthrough evidence based practice and exceptional care.   

 

The Orthopedic–Med/Surg team iscommitted to the highest standards of nursing practice and clinical excellencefor the optimal care of our patients. As we continue our journey to excellence;many nurses on our team are nationally certified by the Orthopedic NurseCertification Board or actively in the process of becoming certified.  Our unit was the first at NFRMC to berecognized for reaching the 2 year ZERO CLABSI milestone and the first toachieve the 1 year CA-UTI Free milestone.

Fastpaced, with the highest volume of patient days and the shortest length of stayfor 2017; leading to enhanced time management, organization and prioritizationof care.  Active in shared governance andprofessional development; the 2018 NFRMC Professional Practice and ProfessionalDevelopment Councils are each chaired by Ortho nurses. We also offer flexiblescheduling to support our team in work-life balance and/or the pursuit ofadditional education.

 
Qualifications
Current license as a RN
Current certification as a BLS Healthcare Provider
Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing

1+ Years of experience as a RN in an Acute Care settingrequired

 

Customer service abilities includingeffective listening skills. Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and theability to work with minimal supervision in a fast pacedenvironment. Ability to perform work that requires frequent standing,bending, reaching, squatting, kneeling, moving, lifting of patients and/or equipmentup to 50 pounds.
