Within the Special Procedures Department at SPGH, we provide the highest quality of care in a warm, personalized setting for the patients we serve.  We pride ourselves on both our professionalism and compassion. Our staff is comprised of dedicated professionals who have worked for SPGH any length of time, ranging from less than one year to 40+ years.  
 

The RN provides direct nursing care in accordancewith established policies, procedures and protocols of the healthcareorganization.  The tasks and responsibilities include:

  • Assesses plans and evaluates patient care needs. 
  • Carries out physician orders.
  • Administers prescribed medications, changes dressings, cleans wounds, monitors vital signs.
  • Serves as the primary coordinator of all disciplines for well coordinated patient care.
  • Monitors, records and communicates patient condition as appropriate utilizing computerized documentation systems. 
  • Instructs and educates patients and families.
  • Assesses and coordinates patient's discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.
  • Provides age and culturally appropriate care.
  • Orients and mentors new staff members.
  • Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

Qualifications

Education
  • Nursing Diploma or ASN required, BSN preferred
Licensure/Certification
  • Current Florida State Registered Nursing license                                
  • Current BLS (Basic Life Support) through American Heart Association required               
  • Current ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) preferred
Experience
  • Critical thinking, service excellence and good interpersonal communication skills, ability to read/comprehend written instructions, ability to follow verbal instructions, PC skills
  • Procedural knowledge of catheters, and wires and lines used in special procedures a plus
  • Familiarity with ASA papers and airway assessments a plus
