Position Summary:

Florida Atlantic University's Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute is seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow, Fort Pierce, FL.

A Postdoctoral Fellow is sought to work in the field of developing compressive sensing (CS) based, hyperspectral and single band active imaging systems. The initial focus of the role will be to develop the theoretical foundation for space borne, CubeSat compatible, passive remote sensing imaging systems for ocean research and surveillance. The Fellow will then design prototype imaging systems to test different concepts in controlled test environments, participate in fabrication of robust prototypes, and participate in field tests to further validate the imaging systems.

Minimum Qualifications:

Ph.D from an accredited institution with applicable coursework in engineering with emphasis in signal processing and with experience in developing optical imaging systems required.

Competency in compressive sensing theory and experimental optics required.

Experience with optical systems using spatial light modulators such as Digital Micromirror Device is preferred.

Experience with algorithm development and hardware design of hyperspectral or multispectral imaging system or spectrometer is preferred.

Experience with signal processing and analysis tools, e.g., MATLAB required.

Ability to work effectively in an interdisciplinary team with scientists, engineers of different disciplines (electronic, optical, software and computer), technicians and students required.

Ability to travel, perform field work, and participate in oceanographic research cruises required.

Valid driver’s license required.

Flexible hours may be required for field work.
