Job Information

The Department of Psychology at Florida International University (FIU) is searching for an open rank, non-tenure track, full-time teaching professor position for a new bachelor's program in Behavioral Neuroscience. The position is for 12-month full-time, non-tenure track teaching faculty. Teaching professor positions are in-unit faculty positions that are renewable annually, benefits eligible, and eligible for promotion opportunities that mirror those of tenure-track faculty. The department is a leader in pedagogical reform efforts and is focused on improving the quality of undergraduate instruction, particularly in gateway undergraduate courses that affect student success as measured by retention and on-time graduation. Teaching assignments will have an emphasis on both hybrid (i.e., blended) and online undergraduate instruction in the area of behavioral neuroscience. Candidates will be expected to perform departmental service as full-time members of the department's faculty. A Ph.D. in psychology or related discipline is required.

The department has 42 tenure-track faculty, 24 Teaching Faculty and research/clinical faculty, more than 200 graduate students spread across five doctoral specialty programs and three master's programs, and more than 5,000 undergraduate majors. The department is a growing hub for neuroscience research, with a doctoral program in cognitive neuroscience established in 2014 and 17 core and affiliated faculty in neuroscience.
