SCHEDULE: Full-time

Capital Regional Medical Centeris a fully-accredited healthcare facility with more than 1,100 employees and500 physicians.  A 266-bed, acute-carehospital that offers 24/7 Emergency Services in Leon and Gadsden Countiesincluding a Pediatric ER and an Express Care ER. We also offer a BariatricCenter, Behavioral Health Center, Cancer Center, Chest Pain Center w/PCI,Comprehensive Breast Center, Family Center, Heart & Vascular Center,Orthopedic/Spine Center, Physical Therapy Services, Stroke Center, SurgicalServices, Wound Healing Center, Network-of-Care Affiliated Physician Practices,and more.

 

Position Summaryof Manager Med/Surg/Telemetry

To administer, analyze and appraise the care given to patientswithin the Medical Telemetry Unit. To advise the Department Director regardingthe status of patient care, budgetary projections, quality improvementprocesses. To anticipate and estimate future needs of the Department to improvequality of patient care in accordance with the philosophy, goals, objectivesand mission of CRMC.

 

PopulationServed:

The Medical-Telemetry Unit is a 44 bed unit located on the 8thfloor of Capital Regional Medical Center. The unit is designed to accommodatethe following patient population: adult and geriatric patients covering ageneral range of medical conditions which may need continuous monitoring oftheir cardiovascular status, pre surgical patients, patients undergoing diagnosticevaluation, and other patients with acute and chronic medical conditions. Themost common cases include:

  • Patientsundergoing evaluation of cardiovascular status
  • Patientswith acute and chronic cardiovascular disease
  • Patientswho have undergone diagnostic procedures
  • PulmonaryPatients
 

EssentialFunctions:

  • Demonstratesadvanced level of clinical skills and the ability to support others to achievethe delivery of quality care.
  • Demonstratesinterpersonal skills and competency in leadership, supervision and managementof staff.
  • Demonstratesexcellent skills in planning, organizing and managing personnel resources in acost effective and productive manner for the operational area of the nursingunit.
  • Demonstratesknowledge and application of the nursing process.
  • Participatesand cooperates in the unit based Quality Improvement processes.
  • Supports,maintains and provides an environment which is supportive of quality patientcare through effective use of resources and personnel including assisting staffwith patient care duties or caring for an individual team of patients.
  • Practices,develops and endorses customer service skills in relationships with internaland external customers.
  • Servesas the patient and family advocate with respect to the patients right toprivacy by protecting confidential information.
  • Participatesin planning and implementing patient care and teaching based on a totalassessment and the age of the patient.
  • Coordinateseducational opportunities with the department director on a monthly basisincluding but not limited to annual competencies.
  • Developsand maintains department orientation schedule for all new employees includingbut not limited to precepting and evaluating each new employee on a bi-weeklybasis.
  • Evaluatesand documents patient response; monitors and recognizes changes inphysiological and psychosocial status; takes appropriate action based onassessment of the patient.
  • Activelyseeks ways to control costs without compromising patient safety, quality ofcare or the services delivered.
  • Demonstratesknowledge of the occurrence reporting system. Uses system to report potential patient safety issues.
  • Followsestablished guidelines for reporting a significant medical error orunanticipated outcome in the patient’s care which results in patient harm.
  • Attendsin-service presentations and completes all mandatory education requirements.
  • UsesPerformance Improvement Plan to improve patient safety.
  • Regular,Punctual and dependable attendance.
  • Demonstrateseffective, respectful and professional communication with all members of thehealth care team.
  • Managesand monitors charge nurse activities and is team leader for charge nurses
  • Otherduties as assigned.
 
Experience: 
  • Acutecare experience required
  • EKGinterpretation
  • Managementexperience preferred
 

Skills,Knowledge, and Abilities:

  • Readsand writes Basic English with the basic skills necessary to transcribephysician’s orders
  • Knowledgeof body substance isolation
  • Abilityto listen, empathize and respond to patient, family, internal and externalcustomer’s needs
  • Basiccomputer skills
 
Education:
  • AssociatesDegree in Nursing or Diploma in Nursing required
  • Bachelor’sDegree in Nursing preferred
 

Licensure/Certification:

  • Current FL RN license required or appropriatecompact licensure. If compact licenseheld, active FL RN license required within 90 days of hire
  • BLS-AmericanHeart Association BLS Provider issued card required
  • ACLS-AmericanHeart Association ACLS Provider issued card required
