Capital Regional Medical Center is afully-accredited healthcare facility with more than 1,100 employees and 500physicians.  A 266-bed, acute-carehospital that offers 24/7 Emergency Services in Leon and Gadsden Countiesincluding a Pediatric ER and an Express Care ER. We also offer a BariatricCenter, Behavioral Health Center, Cancer Center, Chest Pain Center w/PCI,Comprehensive Breast Center, Family Center, Heart & Vascular Center,Orthopedic/Spine Center, Physical Therapy Services, Stroke Center, SurgicalServices, Wound Healing Center, Network-of-Care Affiliated Physician Practices,and more.

Position Summary:

To administer, analyze and appraisethe care given to patients within the Department. To advise the DepartmentDirector regarding the status of patient care, budgetary projections, qualityimprovement processes. To anticipate and estimate future needs of theDepartment to improve quality of patient care in accordance with thephilosophy, goals, objectives and mission of CRMC.

 
Population Served:

This is a 32 bed surgical inpatient and 24 bedortho/neuro inpatient unit specializing in the delivery of acute surgical careof the adult patient. Both units are located on the fifth floor. The patientpopulation includes adults undergoing general, gynecological, abdominal,orthopedic, urology, and neurosurgical procedures. Infrequently, the units carefor non-cardiovascular medical patients requiring nursing observation andmonitoring. Remote telemetry is provided as ordered.

 
Essential Functions:
  • Demonstrates advanced level of clinical skills and the ability tosupport others to achieve the delivery of quality care.
  • Demonstrates interpersonal skills and competency in leadership,supervision and management of staff.
  • Demonstrates excellent skills in planning, organizing and managingpersonnel resources in a cost effective and productive manner for theoperational area of the nursing unit.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and application of the nursing process.
  • Participates and cooperates in the unit based Quality Improvementprocesses.
  • Supports, maintains and provides an environment which issupportive of quality patient care through effective use of resources and personnel.
  • Practices, develops and endorses customer service skills inrelationships with internal and external customers.
  • Serves as the patient and family advocate with respect to thepatients right to privacy by protecting confidential information.
  • Participates in planning and implementing patient care andteaching based on a total assessment and the age of the patient.
  • Evaluates and documents patient response; monitors and recognizeschanges in physiological and psychosocial status; takes appropriate actionbased on assessment of the patient.
  • Actively seeks ways to control costs without compromising patientsafety, quality of care or the services delivered.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of the occurrence reporting system.  Uses system to report potential patientsafety issues.
  • Follows established guidelines for reporting a significant medicalerror or unanticipated outcome in the patient’s care which results in patientharm.
  • Attends in-service presentations and completes all mandatoryeducation requirements.
  • Uses Performance Improvement Plan to improve patient safety.
  • Regular, Punctual and dependable attendance.
  • Other duties as assigned.
 
Experience: 
  • Acute care experience required
  • Management experience preferred
 
Education:
  • Associates Degree in Nursing or Diploma in Nursing required
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing preferred
  • Master’s Degree preferred
 
Licensure/Certification:
  • Current FL RN license required or appropriatecompact licensure. If compact licenseheld, active FL RN license required within 90 days of hire
  • BLS-AmericanHeart Association BLS Provider issued card required
  • ACLS-AmericanHeart Association ACLS Provider issued card required
