Capital Regional Medical Center is afully-accredited healthcare facility with more than 1,100 employees and 500physicians.  A 266-bed, acute-carehospital that offers 24/7 Emergency Services in Leon and Gadsden Countiesincluding a Pediatric ER and an Express Care ER. We also offer a BariatricCenter, Behavioral Health Center, Cancer Center, Chest Pain Center w/PCI,Comprehensive Breast Center, Family Center, Heart & Vascular Center,Orthopedic/Spine Center, Physical Therapy Services, Stroke Center, SurgicalServices, Wound Healing Center, Network-of-Care Affiliated Physician Practices,and more.


POSITIONSUMMARY:

TheMental Health Technician I provide patient care and supervision under thedirection of a Registered Nurse for a group of patients for a designated timeframe and provides care to these patients via therapeutic use of self, thenursing process, the environmental/instrumentation, and other health caremembers.  The Mental Health Technician Ifunctions as a member of the therapeutic team within limits as designated bythe policies and procedures of Capital Regional Medical Center.

 

ESSENTIALFUNCTIONS:

  • The Mental health Tech provide anddocuments on patient care, observed patient behaviors by; using the nursingprocess, based on the nursing process, established hospital policies andprocedures, unit specific policies and procedures, and/or Standards of Care/Practice.
  • Assists in the coordination ofnursing/psychiatric care provided in conjunction with the multidisciplinarytreatment team.
  • Participates and cooperates in the unitbased Quality Improvement process.
  • Practices, develops and endorses customerservice skills in relationships with internal and external customers.
  • Serves as the patient and family advocatewith respect to the patient's right to privacy by protecting confidentialinformation.
  • Observes reports and documents thepatient's physiological and psychological status, informing a registered nurseof any incongruency in the above.
  • Activelyseeks ways to control costs without compromising patient safety, quality ofcare or the services delivered.
  • Demonstratesknowledge of the occurrence reporting system. Uses systems to report potential patient safety issues
  • Followsestablished guidelines for reporting a significant medical error orunanticipated outcome in the patient’s care which results in patient harm orpotential harm.
  • Attendsin-service presentations and completes all mandatory education requirements.
  • UsesPerformance Improvement Plan to improve patient safety.
  • Regular,Punctual and dependable attendance.
  • Asa crisis prevention intervention trained staff member, responds appropriatelyto a manpower request.
  • Otherduties as assigned.



Qualifications

EDUCATIONREQUIRED AND/OR PREFERRED:

  • HighSchool diploma or GED required
  • Vocationalor Technical Degree such as Emergency Medical Technician preferred
  • 2 YearAssociates Degree preferred 

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:

  • BLS – AHA Healthcare Provider required 

EXPERIENCEREQUIRED OR PREFERRED:

  • One year in a mental health or acute caresetting

SKILLS,KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES:

  • Readsand writes Basic English with the basic skills necessary to communicatetherapeutic interactions
  • Knowledgeof body substance isolation
  • Abilityto listen, empathize and respond to patient, family, internal and externalpartners needs
  • Basiccomputer skills
