This role is responsible for reviewing all public relations media calls and will focus on external communications. Previous media relations and PR/public communications experience required.

Knowledge of:
• Demonstrated knowledge and experience with non-paid media communications.
• Demonstrated knowledge and experience with media relations and community relationship building.
• Knowledge of and experience with local and industry media as well as City community communications.
• Demonstrated experience in managing established print and press contacts and establishing effective relations w/ new and/or unanticipated media channels.
• Demonstrated knowledge and experience in design and development of media strategies to generate quality inquiries and build brand awareness of clients mission, programs and achievements; e.g. speech writing, public speaking, press releases.
• Understanding of trends and direction in utility environments.
• Able to work effectively across processes ensuring effective handoff procedures, practices and measurements.
• Demonstrated understanding and utilization of financial data, corporate scorecard information, and key performance indicators to support process performance.
• Demonstrated knowledge and experience planning and executing press conferences and editorial board meetings
• Demonstrated knowledge and experience coaching technical experts and senior executives for media appearances

Ability to:
• Work with internal departments to assist in formulating responses to inquiries and questions
• Utilize strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to provide clear, concise report writing and oral presentations.
• Develops, maintains effective and efficient workflow and ongoing operations including process modifications as needed; communicates changes to other process owners and/or those impacted
• Identifies trends and sees that implementation of corrective action is complete, as necessary; informs others
