Position Overview
KIPP Jacksonville Schools seeks a Manager of College Placement. The Manager of College Placement is responsible for ensuring KIPP Jacksonville alumni receive the necessary support to gain admission into colleges or universities and thrive while attending. The Manager of College Placement is part of the three-person KIPP Through College team in the region and reports to the Director of KIPP Through College.

Specific Responsibilities
  • Educate students and families about colleges, the college admissions process, trends, procedures, and testing
  • Counsel each family on post-secondary options and help them develop a list of at least nine colleges, including three likely, three target, and three reach schools, that best meet the interests and needs of alumni
  • Plan and hold college readiness meetings, panel discussions and college fairs (including admissions officers from colleges, etc.) to educate parents and 11th and 12th grade alumni about the process of gaining admission to colleges, affording colleges, succeeding in college, etc.
  • Collaborate on the planning and execution of events like family workshops, financial aid seminars, college fairs, and College Signing Day
  • Assist families with completion of FAFSA
  • Advise 9th grade cohort on strategies for strong matriculation for high school
  • Review academic progress of juniors and seniors via progress reports, report cards, and test scores
  • Maintain regular contact with caseload of alumni by visiting them at their respective high schools, and meeting with appropriate administrators bi-monthly
  • Update student files in the Salesforce database with progress reports, report cards, academic progress plans, parental involvement, intervention meetings, college wish list, updated college and scholarship application progress, financial aid awards, etc.
  • Create leadership, mentoring, and tutoring opportunities for KIPP Jacksonville 11th and 12th grade alumni with current KIPPsters
  • Maintain communication with KIPP-wide KTC community via emails, KIPP Main Office, conferences and one on one meetings
  • Teach and hold students accountable for the school’s culture and standards for behavior
  • Develop positive, appropriate relationships with current students, alumni, families, and colleagues
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Requirements of the position include:
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Two to five years of relevant work experience in urban education (teaching, counseling, admissions, leadership, etc.)

  • Flexibility to work weekday evenings and/or on weekends occasionally, as needed
  • Highly Preferred Qualifications
  • Two or more years of experience with college admissions or college counseling
  • Experience supporting students/families in completion of FAFSA
  • Experience teaching or working in an urban public high school or non-profit charter school setting
