Summary:
The primary objective of the Jenkins Scholarship Graduate Assistant is to create a community of support for Jenkins scholarship recipients. These students are typically, but not always, first-generation students. In all cases, they have overcome personal, social, and/or economic obstacles in pursuit of their educational goals. The graduate assistant regularly meets with students one-on-one; plans social events, service opportunities, and educational workshops for students in this program; hires, trains, and supervises tutors, and works with members of the Scholars Planning Board as they plan additional social and service-related activities.
Duties:
The major responsibilities of the Jenkins Scholars GA are:
Facilitate, track, and record regular meetings with each scholarship recipient throughout the semester.Assist scholarship recipients with personal and family problems, and/or issues related to adjustment to the university environment.Track scholars’ progress by maintaining meeting notes throughout the semester, tracking grades, and compiling end of the semester reports for donors.Assist the Program Advisor with program administrative duties.Collaborate with the Honors College Fiscal Analyst in managing the program budget and creating semester/yearly budget reports.Coordinate tutorial services for students on an as-needed basis. This includes recruiting, interviewing, training, and supervision meetings with tutors.Supervise tutors, track their hours, and maintain tutoring reports.Inform student regarding program deadlines and opportunities, and promote relevant events and opportunities for involvement, through email, Facebook, etc.Plan and coordinate educational seminars for the students on topics such as Relationships in College, Time Management, Stress Management, Career Readiness, Living off Campus, Leadership Skills, etc.Organize social- and service-oriented events for the scholars to participate in as a group.Attend and assist with donor-sponsored and special events.Manage student insurance process.Participate in ongoing support, training, and meetings with the Program Advisor, and a fellow GA in a similar program.This position requires and provides compensation for a 25-hour workweek during fall and spring, with a 20 hour workweek in the summer. Benefits include pay, tuition waiver, health insurance.

Schedule: Normal schedule within business hours of 8am – 5pm
Minimum Qualifications:
BA degree and current full time USF graduate school student
