FSU's Equal Opportunity Statement can be viewed at: http://www.hr.fsu.edu/PDF/Publications/diversity/EEO_Statement.pdfResponsibilities The Instructional Specialist I position is an “in-unit” full-time, specialized faculty (non-tenure track) position that will provide leadership and day-to-day supervision of the Math Studio at the ACE Learning Studio.

Key responsibilities include:

Recruiting, training, supervising, and evaluating the performance of undergraduate math tutors

Coordinating communication with faculty in the Department of Mathematics

Compiling data and preparing reports to demonstrate program effectiveness

Teaching one lower-division math course either face-to-face or online each semester (1-1-1 with Summer C required)

Teaching and overseeing the expansion of one-credit math support lab (SLS 1511) courses

Designing and delivering workshops for effective math strategies and learning strategies

Providing strategic planning and ongoing program evaluation

Assisting with staff supervision and office coverage at the ACE Learning Studio

Assisting with math success initiatives such as math placement, institutional effectiveness reporting, and other Undergraduate Studies/Mathematics priorities

Other duties as assignedQualifications Master’s degree in Mathematics, Mathematics Education, Curriculum and Instruction or a closely related field including 18 graduate credit hours in Mathematics.

Must have demonstrated evidence of successful math teaching experience at an accredited postsecondary institution, excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint or comparable software.Preferred The ideal candidate will have a doctorate in Mathematics, Mathematics Education, Curriculum and Instruction, or a closely related field. Other preferred qualifications include:

Experience working with academic support services at the post-secondary level and/or prior experience with training tutors.

Knowledge of learning theories, college student development theory, self-regulated learning, student issues and challenges, and best practices in teaching and student retention and graduation.

Experience working with a diverse student population, including those experiencing academic difficulty.Contact Info If you have questions, please contact Dr. Courtney Barry at cbarry@fsu.edu.Anticipated Salary Range The salary range is $50,000 to $55,000 commensurate with qualifications and experience.Schedule This is a full-time, 12-month faculty position (non-tenure track but eligible for the specialized faculty promotion process in accordance with the Bylaws of the Division of Undergraduate Studies). This position requires a set work schedule of 40 hours per week divided among ACE Learning Studio to assist with staff coverage and supervision and Department of Mathematics for teaching and administrative responsibilities.
