Position Overview
KIPP Jacksonville Schools seeks a teacher for our 5th grade classroom in the 2020-21 school year. This teacher would be assigned one grade level,one subject area, and will be responsible for creating a positive classroom environment, implementing our curriculum, assessing students, collaborating with their team, building relationships with our families, and other duties as assigned. Full teacher responsibilities are ultimately outlined by their School Leader.

All teachers at KIPP Jacksonville Schools work from 7:30am - 4:15pm Monday through Friday. Student hours are typically 8:00am – 3:45pm. Every Wednesday is a student early release day where students dismiss at 1:30pm. This allows teachers to participate in weekly professional development.

Our Middle School Model: 
There are four "homeroom" teachers on each grade level who each teach a core subject area. For example, there are four teachers on the 6th grade team and each staff members teaches every student on that grade level for one subject. Class size is typically about 26 students per class. 

Subjects on each grade level include English language arts, social studies, math, and science. 

Certification should be clearly indicated in the application. 

Requirements of the position include:

  • Bachelor's Degree 
  • Relevant Florida Teaching Certification or Equivalent (Elementary Education K-6 or Middle Grades ELA 5-9 
  • At least one year of teaching experience with a proven track-record of high achievement in the classroom

  • Highly Preferred Qualifications
  • Florida Reading Endorsement (or Reading Competency coursework in progress)
  • Two or more years of teaching experience with a proven track-record of high achievement in the classroom

  • Our current starting salary for a first-year lead teacher is $50,000
