CREOL, The College of Optics & Photonics at the University of Central Florida (UCF) invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in the area of quantum optics, with preference for experimentalists. Although we are interested in junior applicants (at the tenured assistant professor level), highly qualified senior appointments (at the level of tenured associate professor or tenured full professor levels) will also be considered. Topics of particular interest include, but not limited to, solid state quantum optical memories, quantum communications and cryptography, optical implementations of quantum computing, single-photon and entangled-photon sources, and photon-counting detectors.

The successful candidate will be expected to establish a top-quality, vigorous, highly visible research program, teach and mentor graduate and undergraduate students, and contribute to service in the institution and profession. Applicants must have a Ph.D. from an accredited institution in optics or a closely related discipline and a strong research experience with a record of scholarly publications.

CREOL is one of the world’s foremost institutions for research and education in optical and photonic science and engineering. The College offers Ph.D. and M.S. degrees in optics and photonics, and a B.S. degree in photonic science and engineering. The faculty engages in fundamental and applied research and education in lasers, optical fibers, semiconductor and integrated photonic devices, nonlinear and quantum optics, and imaging, sensing, and displays. The college is now home to the Florida Photonics Center of Excellence (FPCE), and Townes Laser Institute (TLI), and the Institute for the Frontier of Attosecond Science and Technology (iFAST). In addition, the College of Medicine, which includes the Burnett School of Biomedical Sciences, provides rich opportunities for collaboration. For more information see www.creol.ucf.edu.
