SCHEDULE: Full-time

Gulf Coast Regional Medical Centeris a 216-bed acute care hospital proudly serving Bay County and surroundingcommunities for 40 years. The hospital was recently named a Joint CommissionTop Performer on Key Quality Measures® – heart failure, heart attack,pneumonia, surgical care, and perinatal care – for the fourth consecutive yearand has achieved certifications for its stroke and wound care.  Located in Panama City, Florida, its team ofmore than 450 providers and 1,000 employees work to ensure patients receive thehighest quality of care every day. With the area’s only designated PediatricER, four-bed Pediatric ICU and 28-bed NICU, the hospital is ready to care forour youngest residents. The hospital has the only Accredited Chest Pain Centerwith Primary PCI as recognized by the Society of Cardiovascular Patient Care.Additionally, the hospital’s cancer program is accredited by the Commission onCancer and the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC). Thesedesignations enhance the hospital’s quality of care and demonstrate itscommitment to higher, measurable standards of care.

 
Position Summary:

Provide leadership for planning, management, implementation,integration, and coordination of Rehabilitation Services

 
Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully,an individual must be able to perform each essential core functionsatisfactorily.  The requirements listedbelow are representative of the knowledge, skill, experience, and abilitynecessary to perform this job.

 
Essential Core Functions:
  • Directs development of specific short and long-range programs andproject plans to obtain the facility objectives.
  • Responsible for the planning and coordination of Rehab activities,the operational efficiency and effectiveness as well as major impact on allother hospital areas.
  • Effectively interviews and selects a qualified number of personnelas required to meet department objectives. Ensures hiring practices conform to appropriate Affirmative Action/EEOpractices and regulations.
  • Provides direction to the staff and supervisors of theRehabilitation Services.  Reviewsperformance of the department staff and approves staff evaluations.   Responsible for appropriate disciplinary actionof staff members as needed.
  • Oversees the prioritization of projects and directs resources toensure the attainment of facility goals.
  • Responsible for ensuring the department meets and adheres to allapplicable federal, state, JCAHO, and local regulatory agency requirements andfor ensuring the department and facilities success in any regulatorysurvey. 
  • Participates on various committees and other task forces as may beestablished by management to plan, organize and drive the facility.
  • Directs and/or participates in regular discussions and reviews ona variety of diverse/complex issues including financial and administrativematters, which have hospital-wide impact.
  • Displays ingenuity and foresight in determining the mostappropriate solution in the absence of established guidelines.
  • Directs, reviews, and analyzes progress and performance ofcontract services personnel.  Makesrecommendation on contract initiation, renewals and termination.
  • Responsible for making decisions required to maintain acceptableoperations based on strategic goals and policies. 
  • Actively seeks ways to control costs without compromising patientsafety, quality of care, or the services delivered.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of the occurrence reporting system.  Uses system to report potential patientsafety issues.
  • Uses Performance Improvement Plan to improve patient safety.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Experience: 
  • 5+ years of clinical rehab experience required
  • 3+ years of clinical rehab leadership experience preferred
 
Education:

  • Baccalaureate or Master's degree in Therapy from an accreditedinstitution required

 
Licensure/Certification:
  • Licensedby the Florida Board of Medicine as a PT, OT, SLP required at hire
  • CurrentBLS certification through American Heart Association (AHA) required at hire
