Broward County, Florida is recruiting nationally for an experienced and accomplished Public Works professional with a proven and verifiable track record of leadership with large scale capital projects (i.e., between $100 million to $500 million in CIP per year). This is truly an exciting opportunity to live and work in one of the fastest-growing, best-performing counties in America. The successful candidate must have experience with alternative delivery methods, including design-build project management and superior technical skills in the field of civil engineering. The successful candidate should be a results-driven professional who brings a proven and verifiable track record in large quality of life infrastructure and street projects. The new Director of Public Works will report to the County Administrator via Monica Cepero, Deputy County Administrator, and will be directly responsible for a staff of approximately 971 full-time employees, with a FY 2020 operating budget of $312 million, and an annual CIP budget of $291 million.
This position requires a Bachelor’s degree and at least 10 years of experience-based expertise in large and complex public works operations or closely related experience. A valid Florida Professional Engineer License is desired but not required, or equivalent transferable license from another state, which must be converted to Florida Registration.
The established salary range is up to $252,810 per year, including an excellent benefits package. Placement within the range is based on qualifications and experience.
