The Florida Department of Management Services (DMS) is a customer-oriented agency responsible for managing the various business and workforce-related functions of state government. Under the direction of Governor Ron DeSantis and DMS’ Executive Leadership Team, the agency oversees the real estate, procurement, human resources, group insurance, retirement, technology, private prisons, fleet, and federal property assistance programs utilized throughout Florida’s state government. DMS is relied upon to establish, maintain and improve the business processes used by state employees to create a better, not bigger government. DMS facilitates the delivery of these programs and services and provides tools and training to bolster the efficiency and effectiveness of the state’s workforce. Position Responsibilities:

This employee supervises the activities of Custodial Workers at the Capitol Complex. The employee in this position shall obey all safety rules, shall exercise care in the course of employment, communicate to their supervisor any hazardous situations or conditions which may place individuals or others in jeopardy and shall assisted and support other employees with safety responsibilities.

  • Oversees and assists with the cleaning of all office areas, including mopping, dusting and sweeping, and emptying trash cans, dust furniture, clean walls, and perform other related work as assigned by supervisor; i.e., clean baseboards, elevators, carpet spotting, floor care and window cleaning.
  • Supervises and assists in the buffing, waxing, stripping, and sealing of resilient floors and cleaning, vacuuming, and steam cleaning of carpet areas.

  • Directs and assists with the stripping and resealing of floors, and associated areas.

  • Performs and supervises light maintenance work.

  • Directs and assists with the moving of furniture as required.

  • Reviews cleaning methods and goals with staff as needed.

  • Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum two years of custodial experience.
  • Supervisory experience preferred.
  • A valid driver's license.
  • This position requires prolonged periods of time walking, standing, bending, climbing stairs and exerting up to 30 pounds of force frequently.
