Immuno-Oncology Research Laboratory
Tampa, FL

An internationally recognized research institution in Tampa, Florida seeks 2 Contract Scientists/Research Associates to join a grant-funded research project team advancing knowledge of immune regulation and immunotherapy in the context of solid cancers. The lab's focus is on understanding the immune components of the tumor micro-environment with the goal of unlocking the keys to the immune system's potential to eradicate cancer.

The lab employs various analytical methodologies including genomic tools, immunological assays and molecular biology techniques to interrogate fundamental questions utilizing animal models of lung cancer and melanoma in addition to understanding immunological features in patient cancers.

As one of several labs in an interdisciplinary research environment, there are ample opportunities for scientific interactions. You will be a part of a strategically growing lab with the opportunity to acquire new skills and grow intellectually while contributing to exciting projects that have strong relevance to cancer immunotherapy.

Appointment: Full time, Contract
Duration: Minimum 6-12 month initial appointment, with possibility of extension
Location: Tampa, Florida, USA
Compensation: commensurate with competencies and experience
Degree requirement: Master’s Degree Required in appropriate discipline; Doctorate preferred

Priority skills sought include competency in one or more of the following :

RNA/DNA extraction, cDNA library prep, RT-PCR; shRNA knock-down, CRISPR/Cas9 gene editing; Cancer cell line generation and maintenance; 3-D cultures; organoid/spheroid cultures; Immunofluorescence and fluorescent imaging; Luminex assays, cytokine profiling; Immunoblot, ChIP assays; ChIP-sequencing, ATAC-seq sample preparation; RNA-sequencing sample preparation; TCR-sequencing sample preparation; TCGA database mining, gene alignment and basic big data analysis.

Competency in any of the following additional skills considered a bonus:

Mouse or human immune cell isolation; Mouse or human primary cell culture; T cell, Treg assays; T cell functional assays, ELISPOT, CTL assays, intracellular cytokine measurement; Flow cytometry; Mouse colony maintenance, genotyping; I.V., Sub-cutaneous, intranasal injections, oral gavage; Tumor cell line inoculations, Tumor burden measurements and quantifications, MRI; Genetically engineered mouse models of cancer; Human blood and Tumor tissue processing; H&E staining, IHC staining.

Candidates with related or unique skill sets, or past research experiences outside those identified above, e.g. molecular biology background, are encouraged to express interest. These positions offer an exciting opportunity to gain additional experience in Immuno-Oncology by contributing to projects and studies related to understanding the cancer immune environment.
