: The registered professional nurse in the role of a charge nurse is responsible for the direct and indirect total nursing care provided by the nurses assigned to the unit. He/She is responsible for the supervision of assigned personnel. The position requires intimate knowledge of both department and hospital policies and procedures relevant to the delivery of nursing care. Interpretive skills frequent interactive and consultative with associates, along with management and supervisory skills are inherent in the position. The ability to retrieve communicates, or otherwise present information in a written, auditory, or visual fashion is essential. The primary method to express or exchange ideas is through the spoken word. Written, telephone, and manual dexterity skills are required for the position.The Emergency Department at Palms West Hospital sees both adult and pediatric patients. The Adult ED has 14 beds and sees between 150 to 188 patients a day. The Pediatric ED has 10 beds and treats 50 to 80 children a day. Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing preferred

Current State of Florida Registered RN License, or

Recognized Compact Licensure (subject to Florida State Licensing Requirements, including/not limited to ongoing eligibility and duration provisions)

Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS Certification via American Heart Association 

Advanced certifications (i.e. CEN, TNCC, etc.) preferred

ER RN experience required.

One or more years of experience as an ER Charge RN required

Customer service abilities including effective listening skills

Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast paced environment

Ability to perform work that requires frequent standing, bending, reaching, squatting, kneeling, moving, lifting of patients and/or equipment up to 50 pounds
