Registerednurse who demonstrates critical thinking skills and leadership within thedepartment’s scope of services, and patient care delivery. Assumesresponsibility and accountability for assisting with the management of humanand physical resources to deliver affordable quality care. The Assistant NurseManager assesses the needs of the patient population and plans, implements, andevaluates assignments to address these needs. Assumes leadership and managementof licensed and non-licensed staff in the absence of nurse manager. Managesstaffing based on volume and needs of department. Assists with the evaluationof staff, developing performance improvement plans and resolving conflict. Disciplinesstaff as needed and in conjunction with department director. Has understandingof department budget basics. Is able to speak clearly of core measures,department specific policies and goals, and educational requirements of staff. Participateswith department audits, chart reviews, special assignments, payroll,scheduling, and department specific initiatives. Is able to enforce processesand ensure they are done constantly and consistently and re-educate whenneeded. Assists with assignment of mentor to new staff and works with thepreceptor to ensure successful orientation.
