CEO Inc’s Advanced Composite Group has been engaged by a small and fast-growing composite manufacturing company in the Florida market for a New Business Development Manager. The company has been in business for over 20 years and has recently re-branded to expand their reach and technical focus within the engineered product/part manufacturing services. They target OEM’s and Primes in the commercial aircraft, defense aircraft and space industries – fabricating secondary structural components through a variety of processes. Although the company is small, they have a solid market reputation and have secured several recurring parts/jobs with a number of OEM’s in the aerospace industry. The New Business Development Manager will help expand this reach and develop deeper market penetration.

The Role

The New Business Development Manager will be an individual contributor, reporting to the VP, Business Development, and leverage the company’s capabilities and to a variety of industry OEM’s and/or Tier 1 aerospace and defense suppliers. This role will be hands-on and the markets will need to be developed, leveraged and grown primarily through this individual’s efforts. The New Business Development Manager will run point on all quoting, estimating and responding to RFP’s as well.

The New Business Development Manager will be responsible for a national geographic scope and will have a lot of autonomy and latitude on how they develop, hunt and farm the new business and opportunities. They will be responsible for running all the leads through a full new business/sales lifecycle and building forecasting plans, budgets and go-to-market plans for the business. If you like a lot of autonomy in leveraging your contacts, knowledge and building strong sales pipeline the way you want to build it, this would be a good way to put your fingerprints on an organization. This role is compensated with a market equivalent base salary and a bonus associated with sales performance of the company. They also offer a full slate of corporate benefits and re-location assistance to Florida – No remote arrangements for this role.

The Requirements:

To qualify for this role, you must have a 4-Year Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or related field; a technical degree would be a strong preference in an Engineering discipline. You should have at least 5 years of business development experience in creating proposals, contracts, building and closing a sales pipeline, attending industry trade shows, etc. This role will have frequent interactions with the engineering teams of both internal and potential clients engineering teams and should have a solid understand of engineering principles as they relate to aerospace products. This may include, material selection, understanding of specifications, the ability to read and understand part blueprints, basic understanding of costs and margins involved in production and design for manufacturability.

Ideally, you will have a track record of selling the “intangible” of manufacturing or engineering services to mid to large size OEM’s or Tier 1 companies within the aerospace or defense industries. An active network within composite manufacturers selling composite materials, engineering services, or part manufacturing services to OEM’s and Tier1 level would provide highly beneficial.
